What kinda music are you talking about?

    Silk route is pretty nice.
If you have a good taste for Indian music soem of these groups/individuals might entice you:
Bombay Vikings, AR. Rahman, DJ Suketu, Jay Sean, Strings, Euphoria, Junoon, Lucky Ali, Rabbi Shergill, Stereo Nation.......

What Genre of music do you admire ?

You can find some awesome Underground music by upcoming musicians on forums like http://www.indianguitartabs.com

Another one you can find here ...
    http://www.massdeletion.com/music.html
I like the compositions by this band ... Sony released their album in 1998 .. but due to some strange reasons ... after the first edition this project was shown the door ... since it is no longer an instore material .... this can be found on the net ...

Then there is Orange Street ...
    http://www.orangestreet.net/downloads.htm

And if you are willing to chalk out some cash .... You might want to checkout the ever-so-famous "The Rough Guide to the Asian Underground"

Here is a track listing ... if you might want ....
    1. Streets of Calcutta - Ananda Shankar
    2. Elephant Ride - The State of Bengal
    3. Killah Connection - Black Star Liner
    4. Fulfilment in Dub [Edit] - Joi
    5. Ja Sha Taan
    6. Yab Yum [Edit][Mix] - Uzma
    7. Pyar
    8. Sundance - ShivaNova
    9. Debris - Asian Dub Foundation
    10. Is It Legal? - T.J. Rehmi
    11. Jihad
    12. Nataraj Express - James Asher
    13. Out of Place
    14. Mixed Vision [Edit] - Mo Magic
    15. Path of the Blazing Sarong - Bill ''Ravi'' Harris & The Prophets,

There's a whole lot of great underground Indian music, I don't know why these don't reach out to compilations ..
Lemme warn you though ... these tracks are slowly absorbed by your ears ...

    Cheers

I am an admirer of Rabbi shergil, Strings, Junoon, A.R. Rehman et al. They are not underground anymore though.

You should also check out this emerging new band from Pakistan called "reith". I heard that they released their album in India recently and it's already making waves.
