iPod laser engraving???

So I bought my wife an iPod for Christmas. I bought it way in advance, before Thanksgiving in fact, so I would be sure to have it. I had it custom gift wrapped, the custom card, and took Apple up on the laser engraving. I made my purchase online via the Apple store. I did manage to get the iPod. It sat in my office for nearly 2 months in its gift wrap package until Christmas Eve the other day, when I gave it to her.

There was NO engraving on it. I was a bit pissed, as you might expect. My wife did not seem to mind, but I put a lot of thought into what was supposed to be on there, and it was a bit special and important to me. Anyone ever have this happen?

What would you do? Bitch to Apple? Again, she really does not care about the engraving, but I think I should at least get some type of compensation for the screw up. I can only imagine someone else out there getting her iPod with the private engraved message... They would likely be even more pissed.

Anyone have any suggestion on what I should do? Thanx.

If i were you i would call them up and argue with them until i get another one for free... I am always looking for opportunities like this. If pizza hut delivers pizza to me 1 minute late i request discount or a free 2 litter pepsi :D and you know what i do not consider that wrong :)

Yeah mate. Be REALLY pissed with them.

Ring up and ask for a $40 voucher for apple because your wife was looking forward to the present and she got angry because you didn't think of anything sweet to engrave on it.

    Will work a treat :D

I did call.. They could care less... The chic on the other end of the line was a total bitch.

    No, it was free..

The psycho biatch on the phone at Apple did offer to have me pay to return the iPod and said once it was there they would ship another one out. That was not acceptable to me. I figured they could at least comp a $10 gift voucher or something so she could get some cheapo accessory.

    Who knows...

I called up, I explained what happened, that I was irritated, etc... The ninny on the phone said, "sir, I realize you are irritated, so what exactly am I supposed to do about it."

To which I responded, "apparently nothing" --- click (sound of phone being slammed.

She tried to tell me I did not order it with the engraving, which is a crock. I know I did, in fact, I spent a great deal of time being very careful during the order process... Then she told me that I specified 24 hour shipping and when you do that, you do not get the engraving... Let's not forget I still got to go through the choose your saying for the engraving process...

As to 24 hour shipping... I ordered it on the 23rd of November. It shipped on the 25th of November and arrived on the 28th of November... 24 hours my ass... Besides, it was a Christmas Present ordered more than a month before Christmas. Why would I specify 24 hour shipping for something I did not need for a month?

Ordering from the Apple Store is painful. I doubt I will do it again. This is not the first problem I have had, and I buy a lot of Apple products.

No offense to you but if that happened to me i would have gotten some good money from them. It all depends on how long can you hold on with them on phone and how long can you keep arguing about it. Here is a Tip for you...
If someone on the other end does not look like he or she is going to corporate with you get mad at him/her and for a moment forget about the real issue. Blame him/her and accuse them of mistreatment of customer :D Ask them their name again (even if you already know) then ask them that you want to talk to their manager and now you have lot of issues with them and they better solve them. Do not accept anything other then what you want. In this case i would say a $50 itunes card :D
