Friends I am looking to purchase a new cell phone (Ok, you should get the hint I am from US - I used the word Cell not Mobile - does not mean you from other part of planet cannot help me). My budget is $400.00 What do you think I can get the most out of my buck? I have looked into Samsung D500, D600, T629, some weird looking Nokia (wonder what happened to Nokia? They used to make kick-ass phones) phones as well. What I am not looking for is a Blackberry-ish type phones. I spend 3 hours making love with emails, reading, writing, analyzing, deleting, archiving (you think of what one can do with email and I do that). So I want to stay away from them when I am driving, riding the train, bus, etc. What do you think is a good phone and please explain why you think so. Don't just drop in Samsung xxx or Motorola xxx. Looking forward to some help.... Cheers
*puts on my old RadioShack badge from when I worked there* Alright, I hope you don't mind if I ask a couple of questions to help you determine the phone that will best fit your needs. First of all, do you have a service provider in mind? And are you interested in getting a discount by signing a two year service contract? They often come with additional perks such as free standard services, for the life of the contract. Secondly, besides the ability to make phone calls, what other functionality are you interested in? Do you want a camera? An special features on the camera? Are you interested in using your phone with blue tooth? Potential reasons include to avoid tangling cords when talking on a head set, or being able to set your phone down near a bluetooth enabled computer and sync your phone with a contact database on your computer, which you can update using your full sized keyboard.
Yes. T-Mobile. But I am not going to sign extension to my existing contract - I just want the phone Camera - yes (lately 3 mp is HOT, I can settle for 2 though). Good Contacts is important. Text Messaging is important as well. I don't like Samsung's T9 feature but hey - the phones are sexier then any other brand I have found for the amount of money I wish to spend. Bluetooth is must, not because I have bluetooth enabled PC but I surely don't like the cord hanging from my ear rolling all over me. I do plan to hook the phone to sync with my Outlook.
I got a blootooth RAZR for the following reasons: It has bluetooth and I hate fiddling with cords in the car. It has a camera / camcorder in case I forget my digital camera and see a pic I just have to take. It's not 3 or even 2 mp, but it does come with a built in camcorder, so you may want to consider which you would like more (as camcorder phones often have lower resolutions). The cost of the RAZR has come down quite a lot, so you should be able to get one for around $250-$300 out of contract. They are actually now in the lower end bluetooth phones category. I've also heard that the Katana is quite nice. The blade also has a camcorder, but I would personally stay away from that one as other than a swivel on it's top for the camera (same resolution), it's basically a bulkier version of the razr, and last I checked (several months ago) it was more expensive than the RAZR as well.
Get a T-mobile MDA its got everything that you can think of wrapped in a sleek design. Its the best phone i have ever had
Wouldn't buy a phone without going here to research... http://www.gsmarena.com/ Then to buy... get it like 1/2 retail, even non american market phones http://ebay.com Just watch the frequencies... make sure you know what your wanted service provider uses and make sure it has both on the phone.
