I grew up in one of these small christian communities. One that was pretty much the norm. And from my experience though the man may make the money and extreme discisions ( locality etc.) In the home the woman pretty much is in charge. They are actually quite balanced overall with each partner playing their role.

 

Ok, but to put it another way, I bet there are more womans in this communities that want to go and work than there are men that want to stay home and take care of the house.
