Is Ad Unit better than Link Unit

i think yea if some 1 clicks on the ad unit its counted as a click whereas in link unit a person has to click 2 times for the click to be registered

i dunno if link units pay high or low

so wat u guys think abt it

i think they both are the same in performance, its really depend on your placement, or how you blend the ads.

I have never tried ad units. I have always thought that they will not convert well and I find that most people put them near their menu's which makes them look like the menu. This is a good ad placement for making it look apart of your site, but then again, you don't really want to make it look like your main navigation menu.

    I have tried both.

The link unit never paid me anything worthwhile. The ad units paid somewhat better - too small numbers for safe statistics, but enough that I will never go back!

I'd love for someone to convince me otherwise, but link units are dead for me.

I have actually found link units to be pretty good earners, they usually seem to pay out better than standard ad boxes but that is just from my personal experience.

In my case, link units pays well getting around $1/click, but the CTR is very low comparing to ad units...

In my case here, I place a link unit under my blog's navigation.
It's CTR are extremely low and it don't pay well. Like today, 2 clicks and only 1 cent.
Whereas my ad unit have higher CTR and pays more than 10 cents per click.

    koolasia,

:D link units have always been better than the ad units based on my experience and from what i've heard of from other AdSense fanatics and webmasters.

I'll have some tips, because of getting few clicks in the link units,

    i. Place the link unit on the top of the page
    ii. Use 728x15 link unit
iii. Try different color like blending and try it, if wont work out try different colors
iv. Don't use any of your inner page links near the link units

    hope that helps..

I only use the link units when I already have 3 ad units on the page and need to add something else. Generally, they haven't performed very well for me.

However, you shouldn't forget about the referral links. On pages with related content, they can perform very well.

adlink units are great for me on every website. Often clicks are worth more than regular ads and it seems that people sometimes even click on more than one....
