I hate judges  They make stupid rules, mostly which would be unpopular and get people in trouble without knowing it.

If you read the article, you'll see the crucial line is that the guy didn't use an attorney. Talk about being stupid.

Well, unless you were the guy in the lawsuit, I'm not talking about you. :)

Yea, sorry. It was midnight, I was tired and I just whipped out the post.

The guy who didn't hire a lawyer was the idiot. He got what he deserved. I can picture the judge laughing inside as that dimwit was trying to argue his case. :)

They actually apply rules made by politicians. They don't do the rules themselves...

I disagree. Some laws are made by the judges due to a lawsuit. ie. The canadian gay marriage law. It was illegal until some gay people sued and said it was against the Canadian constitution which outlines freedom.

LMAO - that judge is on drugs! Firstly, if you do not want anyone to deeplink to your site, then password protect or don't put the material in question online.

Now i have seen it all!

If you think politicians make all the laws, do some studying of Constitutional Law. ;)

Part of a judges duty is to interpret laws. If he belongs to the group of tools that think "the internet is a series of tubes" he may not be the best determiner of what he does not understand.

This seems like the common problem today, most politicians and judges do not understand the Internet and those that do have their hands in corporate pockets. But what they seek to control, they find they cannot because it is a global entity and the move towards globalization is not yet complete. God help the slaves when it is.

The internet is a series of tubes :) Little tubes that carry light...

But yeah, it amazing how we have judges and politicians making and interpreting laws when they have absolutely no understanding of the technology involved. At some point, technology will surpass law to such an extreme degree that society will demand advanced technology degrees as a qualification for running for office :)
