Live audio streaming in php

Hi:

Have anyone idea about live streaming? Like live radio, live talk etc...

Example: www.crazefm.com

Here is live radio. What is concept behind this? How they stream audio, so we can listen live songs.

On the client side, it is probably a flash application or windows media / quicktime embedded stream. I don't think you can easily do it in php, you will probably need a stream server.

 

I believe winamp provides a free server-side plugin to do shoutcasting

there is a free streaming server host... listen2myradio.com 500 listners for free ..limitation...user must visit the url provided by them once to listen to the songs...scripting properly with hidden frames and javascript refresh code will solve this..

it streams with Icecast

 

you need some kind of streamserver and a LOT of bandwidth, think about 8kB per user and second for 128 quality in mp3.

Burhan ... Streaming requires a lot of stuff other than just the way it is done!

For example, do you have the legal rights for streaming the tracks ? What listener base are you targetting ? etc. etc.

Are you ready with all that ?

Hey burhankhan, for my live streaming I use this services dacast.com. They give you a channel page or the player code. Then you can make live video/audio streaming or just listen some playlist. So I integrated their flash player in my php pages and it works fine.

 

If you own a Linux VPS you can install icecast and connect with winamp or open it from browser with quicktime or flash plugin..
or write a flash audio player that can connect to your stremaing server.
i have write the article a years ago, but i believe it's working fine:

Why don't you take the following suggestion:

having an updated play list with ordering numbers (1, 2, 3, 4, etc...) and when someone enters a page it will plays the list automatically via a flash mp3 player or any music player with hiding all the control buttons and just keep the mute and unmute button. For users, it will appear just like a live streaming.
