Just in case we know this by a different name what is a three-pieces business? Is that a term from Kuwait, or do they actually exist in New York?

Thanks for your response! By "three-piece business," I mean a business focused on selling three-piece suits—which include a jacket, trousers, and a vest. It’s not a term from Kuwait, rather, it refers to a classic formal wear category that is widely worn in business, weddings, prom night, courtroom, special events & occasions.
Three-piece suits are quite popular in New York, especially among professionals and fashion-conscious individuals. I am exploring whether it would be better to establish a physical store or run an online business in this industry.
Would love to hear insights from professionals on market demand and the best approach for this business in NYC!

Hey Luna, A mix of both physical and virtual can work wonders, but it depends on your vibe and what you’re comfortable with. Chatting with some local pros or attending networking events could give you some great insights too.

I wouldn't buy something like a suit online, getting the right fabric and fit is so important. Nothing worse than an ill-fitting suit.

Thank you for your input! You’re absolutely right, fit and fabric are crucial when buying a suit. Many people prefer trying on a suit in person to ensure the perfect fit.
To address this concern, we have a strong measurement system on our website that helps customers easily find their perfect fit. Our platform provides detailed size guides, measurement assistance, and customization options to minimize any fitting issues. Additionally, we’re considering a hybrid approach—offering an online platform for browsing styles and customization while also having a physical setup for fittings and alterations.
Do you think this could be a viable approach, or do you still believe in-person shopping is the best way for suits? Looking forward to your insights!

You're stuck really, you have a website, and you have a manufacturing site somewhere (Kuwait?) and opening stores in enough New York locations will cost a phenomenal amount of money.

I'd do a really thorough business plan of online only and if the numbers stack up keep moving forward. If they don't then pivot and do something else.

Are you tied into the manufacturing side or can you get out of that easily?

That’s a great idea—three-piece suits never really go out of style, and there’s definitely a market for them in NY, especially with all the business professionals around. You might want to start small with custom fittings or made-to-measure services and grow from there. Word-of-mouth and good reviews can go a long way in this space.

Funny enough, I was recently looking at some websites for Estate Agents in Ilford, and the ones that stood out all had a clean, sharp look—kind of like how a good suit makes a strong first impression. Presentation really does matter no matter the industry.

Wishing you the best as you get started!
