Hi everybody here is the scenario: (the keywords "cool" is not the real one and is used just for demonstration) i recently bought the domain name "coolvideos.com" which is 2 years old. and i want to rank 1 for the keyword "Cool videos" "cool videos" shows 35 000 000 results in google - all the top 5 Websites (my competitors) dont have "cool" or "videos" in their domain names - all the top 10 websites are PR5-PR7 My new website (coolvideos.com) will have 500 to 1000 pages of cool videos. i just have light seo knowledge, if i hire a good seo company how much time u think it will take to be ranked 1? (i assume with a good seo work there is no reason not to be ranked 1 or at least top 3 because i have the domain coolvideos.com) what is ur estimation please? thanks
It's will depend : * how competitive are your keywords ? * how good you are at SEO ? * how good are you competitors ? * how good is your site ? * and many other factors and maybe you'll never be number 1... Best advice I can give you is : work hard rather trying to know when you'll be number 1.
* how competitive are your keywords ? - i just to want to rank 1 for 1 keyword "cool videos" * how good you are at SEO ? - i hope to find someone good * how good are you competitors ? - from what i saw they arent really good but top 3 are a little bit optimized * how good is your site ? - i'll try to have more than 500 rich pages just because am not really into SEO i would love to hear an estimation of how much time (with a good seo company) it will take to rank 1 since i have what it take.
With SEO it can take at least 8 weeks for results to start to show through. Sometimes sooner but it could also take a lot longer. To obtain #1 position will need to be done in planned stages as it could achieve #1 rank quickly - but then disappear again just as quick when google updates the algorithm. As long as it is white-hat methods that are used and the link growth is more organic then you should start to have results filtering through. Remember, longtail searches can also have more long-term growth for the website and safeguard against a google change in their ranking algorithm to some extent. In addition, if the structure of the site changes (and the topic etc) - google will only work from the date of change of ownership of the domain name changeover. In essence, it is a 'new site' and would need to build up as if it was a new site - in which case you could be looking at 6months - 1yr to achieve high visibility for your desired keyword on google. The SEO should be continuous nonetheless and any SEO expert who claims to get you #1 ranking in a short time period should be avoided as they will likely employ underhand techniques that could result in the delisting of your site and possible banning by google.
I'm afraid nobody can tell. Well many people could tell you 3 months, 6 months, 1 year or whatever, but it's would be BS. No one know, thats what I meant, it's depend of too many factors.
Ganceann : thanks man great post jp3fn : i really need to rank 1 for "cool videos" thats why i bought coolvideos.com ablaye : definitly... but i thought that by buying coolvideos.com it will just have to create a high quality website with great content, and hire a good seo to optimize it. my goal is to rank 1 in about 6 months but i guess its gonna take more time than that.
i'd try to nail down some solid long tail organics what's wrong with funny videos? awesome videos? great videos" insane videos? get some more words in your pages so your results will be more relevant. also. try to make a healthy description of each video. this will provide you with tons of quality and unique content
