There's a post at Digg about the new picture next to ads policy, and in one of the comments was this re bans: "They will give you an auto generated email citing invalid clicks. They'll close the account down, take any money that was in the account, stop any cheques in your bank and request all the money they ever paid you back from your bank. Any sites linked to that account will be black listed for life. And there's nothing you can do about it. I've seen cases of people owing their banks $60k with not a penny to show for their efforts. Sure there is actual click fraud, but the actual numbers are much much smaller than what Google advertises. The overwhelming majority are small/medium sites that got banned for growing "too quickly."" This couldn't be true, right? http://www.digg.com/tech_news/Google_Updates_AdSense_Rules_No_more_Images_next_to_AdSense_allowed
In my experience (what i have heard from people) google will email a publisher and ask them to remove the images next to adsense rather than automaticallly ban them.
Don't you read AdSense Blog? they clearly said No about images next to ads, why people want to wait the mail from google when they already know its against TOS now,
Tops30 is right, they could do that if they take you to court...otherwise whoever is asking for money is simply a scam.
Anyone have a link the AdSense blog where this is discussed? Sounds ominous for many who have "optimized" their AdSense placements.
If you are a genuine publisher, there is no fear of them giving you a straight ban. However, if you are a dodgey dealer, have an odd website, very odd earnings, and images, they probably will still ban you. Why do people not accept that images have now been made against the TOS? I have already broken to the news to several big publishers, and they sensibly moved the images promptly
I have some websites with some images next to ads that I created one year ago. There is no problem until now. I imagine these images like flowers on your table that make your room (web) looks more beautiful than usual.
There are some people on this forum who are freaking out about even the most little things. Why the f do you guys care so much? And I cannot see anything related to images in that message. The message clearly says that it is because of invalid clicks, not because of images. A second thing is that it is utterly clear that that message is made up! Who, on Earth, can do that? I mean, who, on Earth, can ask you about your previous earnings. If so, it would be more of G's fault since they have not noticed. And it is impossible not to notice something that owns 60Ks! One last thing is proof!! It is clear from the language that this is all made up! No examples, nothing!! It is just written with a language like "they do this; they do that, blah blah." Obviously written by a kid who got banned because of clicking his own ads on his free blog site.
You all should really just get in compliance right away. It's not worth the chance of being banned. Don't wait for a warning. That's really a form of defiance, and Google could justifiably pull the plug on you. We're all adults here....
Well, I am not using images next to my ads... But I am considering to.. after seeing G's clear message...
They can not take the money out of your bank account. These are stories. Don't believe everything that you read.
Another made up thing about that paragraph is the claim that G represents actual numbers of click fraud higher than it really is!! How can a sensible human being believe this? We all know that G tries to show click fraud lower than what it really is, and it makes sense since G does not want to lose its market. I mean the whole paragraph is full of made up stuff. Believe me guys! This is my area of expertise!!
Exactly ablaye!! As I said, the whole paragraph is totally made up, every single sentence... Even the way sentences are constructed gives it away... As I said, it is written by a kid whose free blog was banned because of clicking his own ads.
I think that it is highly likely that google would just ban you rather than taking you to court. There is alot of money involved in sueing someone wheres they can ban you in a few clicks.
They're allowed to break their own rules though? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=christmas&btnG=Google+Search
