Yes, I still don't quite understand why they shut it down. It's not like they didn't have the $$ to keep it going.
I think Google is the only company that can drive more subscribers to their social media site and compete directly with Facebook. They should have created a better software ecosystem between their sites and apps.
I agree totally. They had the chance to compete, but nerfed it. I don't care for the way Facebook does some things, but they have made themselves indispensable to most people.
Also, they are taking full advantage of the monopoly they have created and their community guidelines are completely ridiculous. They must be confronted with a big competition which unfortunately doesn't exist anymore!
Agree, it's like shut down some popular serial without any reason. Money - was definitely not an issue, I guess it's about some internal reasons
Google are always doing this like Google buzz and other Google things on the list of depreciated products. It came across as a more tech savvy service and this put many people off engaging with the site.

Some people still miss the organized way it allowed discussions to thrive, especially for niche topics. That said, platforms like Reddit or Facebook Groups have filled a bit of that gap, but they don’t quite have the same vibe Google+ had
