Don't know why I was banned

I'm confused. My roommate joined Facebook about a week ago, on the same computer as mine. And today I tried to join it as well. I kept trying and trying, but I could not register--FB just kept telling me to try it again. And again. Finally I got a message that I had been violating their community standards, and *I* have been removed. They said I could appeal, which I did not long go. But I don't understand, because I hadn't even created an account yet, so I couldn't have been violating anything.

Only thing I can think of is that FB thinks that my *roommate* had been violated those standards, and they pinned it on me, because of the shared computer. I asked my roommade about that, and he said, convincing, that he hadn't, although he said that he did things *outside* of FB that could be questionable if interpreted in the wrong light.

So I don't know what to do. When I go to Facebook, I'm not allowed to go on it, let alone continue to create an account. (My roommate says he has the same experience.) What am I supposed to do? If the appeal is rejected, and from the reading of the message it sounds like they won't even notify me if that happens, that means I'll *never* get a FB account??
    Thanks.

Your friend/roommate went on your computer and did shady stuff? get better friends!

I'm amazed to find 2 adults who are only just signing up for facebook, you guys been in a religious cult until now?

Get VPN from nord, change to a different country and you should be able to sign up.

Don't be too amazed - I have been an adult (so they say) for a few days, have never been able to force myself to sign up, and probably never will.

That's one adult. Who is going to be your roommate?

oh and fun parenting story about "shady stuff"

My 10yo was having a friend sleepover
They wake at 5am and go into my husband's office in the next room and look up porn on his work computer.
I find them at 8am looking at regular stuff and tell them off for not asking first.
I then look up the browser history and see how long they'd been on and what they'd been looking at.
Friend is sent packing after I've lectured them on never using someone's work computer to look up shady stuff as that can get them sacked or arrested.

I can understand a 10yo not knowing about browser history and IP records and consequences - I wonder what this guy's roommate's excuse is?

Just use VPN and you will be able to sign up, also tell your roommate to never use your computer, you don't know what else he is doing there.

Well, the way I look at it, Zuckerberg is a total azzhole (have you read his history??), and I'm one of the very few people that have been willing to boycott him. Unfortunately, I'm now going to *have* to use use Facebook for work.

No, what you *really* want to say, is "don't let your friends use your computer." Because you never know for sure what things will fail facebook's test. And I really doubt that this guy's posts deserved to get him blocked. I know him.
