Reddit is surely a great source to get traffic to a website but does it also help your website in terms of SEO? What are the best practices to get the best out of Reddit in terms of not only getting traffic but also to increase search engine rankings?
A warning on Reddit: if you just post links, you'll get banned. I did that, then they showed me mercy and reinstated me as I became an active participant in their forum. I still selectively post links directly related to questions and discussions in the forums, and Reddit is OK with that as long as it's not done excessively. But the traffic from those links currently is minimal —only 8 visitors from Reddit last month from among our 46,508 visitors.
I think link placement must be justified there, so no one can think it was placed by site owner for promotion. I assume in this case such links will be accepted there and appreciated.
I do not just start a thread by posting a link with comments. That got me banned, probably rightly so. Now I get engaged with active threads, and if I have a relevant article that adds value to the dialogue, I'll post a link to that article along with my comments.
I tried increasing my Karma on Reddit but every time I post there someone dislikes my comment and now my Karma is negative. Now I stopped doing Reddit.
This is a great source of traffic from a SEO point of view. But comments should be relevant, and the link should be natural and useful. In addition, if you want to attract more visitors to your site, then you can buy several Reddit accounts on special online resource https://accfarm.com/buy-reddit-accounts and write comments from each.
Well, I would say Reddit is good for community building not for traditional Link building. They have more than strict policies. You spend time building your karma and you can be kicked out in a couple of minutes for any link posting which moderator thinks is a spammy activity.
When you add a link to Reddit it’s initially mark as no-follow. Now after some complex algorithm and criteria your link can be mark as do-follow but that’s extremely hard. So you won’t get link juice from Reddit but you might get some traffic
If you have good trendy questions or you are able to answer for questions then Reddit is good platform to get traffics and increase your reputation there, but if you want to put link there only by anyways .... then according to me its just wasting of time. In short you need some knowledge in related niche market to get attentions of users at Reddit by your questions or tips or ideas ... otherwise just create an account and submit links as many as you want (not from restricted niche) under your account .... you will get no response and no result.
