Worth to buy domains with discounts?

I wonder what can you recommend: to buy domain name with discounts or not?
I have seen different domain name registrars offer good discounts for the domain name registration. Even for .COM domains.
I think that .com domain name is the best option for any site.
What if I grab such domain name? Good idea?

 

It depends on what you plan to do with your website. I also recommend a .com extension.
Make sure that you take a good domain name, because it will effect your brand and SEO.

.com domain name extension is the one which is used by default. If you hear: check this at digitalpoint - you do the following: use digitalpoint.COM.
But a lot of good, short and catchy domains are taken there. You are lucky if your prospective domain name is available .
Other good options for domains can be .net domain name extension.
As for the domain name registrar: chose any you like.
If now they have discounts for .com - for transfer and renewal price can be different. Just be ready for that.
If you are planning long term investment - go ahead and use .com domain name.
I assume even $20 per year for good domain name is not a fortune.

Well. .com is good if you are targeting globally. For example, if you are targeting services in uk then definitely .co.uk will be better than .com. So, be specific about your target audience.
