Any worth WhatsApp alternatives?

I think all of us already know about the latest WhatsApp privacy policy changes. And I'm sure that many already refused from that app. But what should we choose?

Signal so much promoted by Elon Mask faces troubles getting so many new users. Telegram can be deleted from Apple Store for its numerous channels they don't ban. Moreover, both of these messengers require a phone number during the registration, which is not safe also.

I've seen a Utopia p2p alternative https://utopia-ecosystem.com/ but it's not very wide known and I'm not sure whether it's worth trying and trusting.

So the question is what to choose instead of WhatsApp in order to stay safe and secured?

I've found that if you tell people that you only use XYZ which is free they'll use it too.

I'm lucky enough to be a politically stable country so signal isn't used by anyone I know. See if the people you need secure comms with are happy to use signal and let us know why they're resistant and we might be able to help you work past that.

I won't be so sure. Not all the promoted things are widely used.People listen to one person and don't even think. But all that promoted stuff is not secured for me as it requires a mobile number. So I'd better choose something not so wide known, but more safe.

Well, I can tell you picked an interesting app. It is, indeed, worthy of the attention of users as it is a whole ecosystem. In light of the latest WhatsApp Privacy Policy scandal, the fact that Utopia p2p does not require any personal data from users, this application has received a lot of attention.

    Hello everyone!.

I think everyone is already aware of the latest news about the change in the privacy policy of WhatsApp? After that, a series of scandals related to Telegram and Signal followed.

At the moment, I set myself the goal of finding the most reliable and secure messenger. I also saw the news about the growing popularity of the Utopia P2P ecosystem https://utopia-ecosystem.com/ .

What do you think, is it worth paying attention to it?

And doesn't the fact that it requires a phone number make you feel awkward? I prefer something really anonymous as I believe all these services with phone numbers will follow WhatsApp one day.. So you'll have to look for other alternatives.

I think that Signal and Telegram will follow WhatsApp sooner or later. As all the soft that require a phone number can use it or enclose your data to third parties on request. So maybe your alternative is better, but not many people will trust it due to a closed sourse. For me it's not a problem, I don't really have much to hide, but look for anonymity anyway.

I can walk down the road to the corner shop, buy a $5 sim card and be up and running in minutes and nobody knows who that sim card belongs to.

The authorities can track my movements and monitor my comms if they want to.

Let's say I was a bad guy but the authorities don't know my phone number.
By staking out my home they'd very quickly be able to tell which cell phones were pinging towers when I was home and isolate my number.
If I use mobile data I'm guessing they'd be able to very quickly identify my network.
From there could put a warrant out to collect all comms made by the phone.

So your app that doesn't request a phone number is only adding one or two steps to a surveillance program.

Well, I kind of saw the latest news that the Bot in Telegram, using Facebook accounts, allowed access to hidden user numbers. If this seems normal to you, then I don't. Where is the guarantee that this will not happen with the Signal?

It's not only about a phone number, it's a separate blockchain built especially for that project. Your account couldn't be accessed from any other device and no one could decrypt any of your messages there.

Come on, I keep looking for information about this project, the developers are trying to build their own web space. They have their own browser, file storage has recently appeared. It looks impressive.

What I observed by exploring Discord can be the best alternative to WhatsApp.

Well, all of us forgot about Discord, but it seems a little old-fashioned to me.. Or maybe I'm thinking about something else. And have you heard a Sicher name? Something new and encrypted, but I'm hearing about it for the 1st time..

Oh, wow. I must admit that this is the first time I've heard about such applications... Apparently I don't know much about them.=)

You know, I love Telegram for its functions and its design, but I don't like the fact that I have to provide my phone number in order to use it. Looking for a full privacy, Utopia is best for me right now. Mobile version will be also released soon.

I don't trust Telegram. Especially after the data of telegram users were repeatedly sold on the darknet after hacker attacks. Yes, and I do not believe in the safety of this application.

Who told you that? :) Show me at least one proof. The latest news I've seen told that if user will refuse to accept the new rules - his account will be blocked and deleted. You think it means that nothing changes? :)

Hahah, it's just that most users still believe what corporations tell them. It's easier to live in a comfort zone this way.
