Hello Guys,

What are some good ways to drive traffic to a video/media site ?

I find that getting traffic links from entertainment sites, web directory submissions, bulletins and good old word of mouth does help.

What other methods and creative ways can you recommend ?

Forgot about reviews / article & press release writing:

- Head to Amazon and other sites where reviews are accepted, and start writing your own reviews of other videos. Include your link where allowed.

- You can also submit reviews in article form, too, plus informative articles and press release about your videos and video creation and have a link to your site / video in your bylines. Check forums and article directories to see which ones have categories for the themes of your videos.

Your video should have good content. Most of the popular videos I have seen are comedy videos.

 

get exclusive content before youtube and upload it to your site the via word of mouth your site will dominate...

How about using email to drive traffic? Start up a newsletter that
you send out weekly with the top 10 best videos. Include a link
to each video and a link at the bottom to the site.

Then encourage members to forward the email to all their friends.
Comedy, entertainment and adult videos will work well for this.

Oh, and MySpace spammi.. bulletins would probably be quite a
good way of getting some more attention, although it depends
on the subject of the videos.

 

I'd say a bunch of sites like myspace, a few of the shoutwire-type sites and a some like reddit etc

Do SEO so that you can get into the searchengines and rank high. Also use networking sites and video type sites.

Those places will all be good to drive additional traffic for you.

 

The best way to get hits is by giving ads in the Classfields. Also Offline advertising(publishing in local magazines or newpaper classfield's) is a powerful way of acheving good no. of hits.

 

In the past my friends have tried a messenger program that messages people on hi5 network (hi5.com) to share videos. A lesser known but extremely active network of 60M people. I have personally never used the tool but I think the network is untapped and hear the program works well to promote stuff.
