How to speed up WordPress surely is a hot topic these days. Fortunately, there are numerous techniques try the below tips in your website. 1. Choose a better web hosting provider 2. Use a lightweight WordPress theme / framework 3. Reduce image sizes 4. Minify JS and CSS files 5. Use advanced caching mechanisms with a caching plugin 6. Use a CDN 7. Enable GZIP compression 8. Cleanup WordPress database
You cannot go much far with wordpress. Its basic design itself is slow and heavy. Most of the themes for wp use jquery, which itself is about 100kb plus in size, and all you are using are 2-3 functions of it. Then plugin after plugin connecting to database again and again will further slow it down. On top of that huge amount of html and CSS thrown out further increases page size. That minify/rocket thing is a myth. How much size can you reduce by replacing "\n" with " ", in a page which is spitting out 700kb html and js? Its really like trying to feed an apple to an elephant, hoping it will fill its stomach...
With elephants getting smaller and apples getting bigger pretty soon an apple will be too big for one elephant.
@silent_1 Cannot do much, except use fewer plugins, and have a high performance host. If you can, then hire someone to make a non-jquery theme, and overall less use of javascript. Removing jquery and then adding 100 functions of your own in plain JS, won't do much good either.
