I have actually developed a reputation for farming out projects. If you go to my profile and read some of the profile posts there, you will see that. All I've ever gotten or expected from it was some thank you's.
Sometimes sifting through the commenting sections of your own posts helps. Sometimes it's a question or someone pointing out a thought not addressed by you. It doesn't necessarily tell you what to write, but can trigger unfinished business if you will. Oftentimes, we write about something of interest to us and others but are not aware of what exactly is interesting to those reading it... which part of it. Once we get what it is that drew people to one of our posts, it becomes easy to expand on it guided towards previously unseen related areas of interest opening up.
When I`m having trouble with writing I`m trying to use different motivation methods to fix it. Those ones (https://ivypanda.com/essays/motivation-and-performance-essay/) helped me a lot last time I wasn`t in the mood for writing.
Different strokes for different folks. The methodology generally used according to this thread involve the following: (1) Listening to music. (2) Stepping away from writing for a brief period. (3) Becoming motivated by reading the writings of others. (4) Going for a walk. (5) Taking a nap. (6) Looking at all of your bills. There are a few others mentioned here, but this list seems to be the most popular. My personal favorites are #1 & #6.
LOL, nothing like worrying over your bills to motivate you to get back to work! Especially, if the music is the theme from Jaws.
The desire to earn is motivation enough to write even when not in the mood. However, the secret is to keep writing even if you've to write about the lack of desire to write or writer's block.
This is an interesting point: suck it up and keep writing. You're a pro, dammit. This approach is viable for certain types of writing (e.g., technical documentation) and has worked for me when faced with a task that I was not wanting to do. Unfortunately, I have never known creativity to work on demand and regardless of mood. So, if it is copywriting or other creative writing projects, you may not be able to force your way through the slump.
Amen to that, when I used to write for the ad agency I could always bang out some jingle or advert that would pass the smell test. But I could never write anything that I was proud of when I wasn't in the mood. There is writing to pay the bills. Then there is poetry with words in the name of love of writing, and self respect.
I work in high spirits so that I can get some rest during the decline. In general, I am a workaholic and I have the exact opposite problem, how to make myself work less, because I squeeze all my strength out of myself. And I don't know how to rest at all.
If I need to write and I don't have the inspiration to do so, I leave it for later. But if the deadline is nearing, I can rarely afford to put off work until later. Then I try to isolate myself from everything and just make my head think in the right direction. But if this method does not work, then I'm just looking for similar articles. I read a few texts and mostly the brain continues to work in the direction that I need. If that doesn't help, I ask my colleagues what they would write in my place)
^^^Proof positive that two heads are better than one. You are a cat that wears sunglasses, it just doesn't get any cooler than that..... Welcome aboard newbie.
Go out to explore new places in your area, read other writings, and listen to some music. These are the basic, but my favourite ones.
I am not a professional copywriter, but as a sales and marketing executive, I need to write many different things. I am faced today with having to do some writing in preparation for a big meeting tomorrow morning and I clearly do not feel like doing it. However, since I must, I am now forcing myself through what could be compared to the stages of grieving: I have gotten past denial and trying to figure out other ways to get this done. I am now at the stage of grim realization that it needs to be done and I have to do it today. A few more cups of tea and I will sit myself down and start writing for a while and then come back to it later in the day. It will get done because it must, of course.
Reality is a stern taskmaster. @bartino11 One cannot go wrong with music to get the creative juices flowing.
And sometimes you get lucky. On a call earlier this morning, I determined that I would not need to write the piece as the situation changed.
