Well for one of my sites it ranks in top 7 on google for a high traffic keyword and gets some good traffic. Now my site has bounced around from 4th to 7th over the last few weeks i belive my on page seo is all done. After completing on page seo the only thing left to do is build links to point to your website with your "anchor text". My question to you is where to get backlinks and if my term is "blue widgets" should i get a lot of backlinks of just "blue widgets" or should i do "blue widgets" and "free blue widgets" to mix it up a bit ?
You can submit your site to directories for backlinks, request links from similar sites, buy links on other sites. As for the keywords, its all up to you which keyword you want to do best for.
i read that having to many backlinks of the same keyword is bad like 70% of your keyword and 30% of other random ones may make google look at it as SE manipulation
Mix it up quite alot, Search engines are getting a lot smarter and and if they see the anchor text over and over they'll mark you as a 'spammer' and penalize you.
sorry for the double post. This is what i am now doing for backlinks would you agree with this "blue widgets" "free blue widgets" "blue for widgets" basicly 3 differnt variations of the keyword reason for this is i did some research on my inbound links and most were with 1 keyword so i assume thats why i either droped a few ranks and am having trouble moving past 4th
Anchor's variation is good, but make sure too that sites from which you got links are revelant to your keywords. For instance, having your keywords included in the title of the page on which is your link is very good.
i agree. you should vary you anchor texts which are related to your keyword. You can also submit your articles to article directories like ezinearticles.com, ideamarketers.com, articlewheel.com(this is mine. )
So much has already been said about anchor text... The question that still stands is how do you get a LOT of backlinks for your keywords? Various strategies can be employed and since you are talking about having dropped because of "spamming" your anchor text, it's obvious that you already know some of them. But just in case... My first favorite way of getting backlinks is through article submissions. Do this *automatically* and send send to loads of article directories. My second favorite is blog "spamming" *LOL* I just love them blogs and the engines love them too! Quite a love triangle ha... Just post comments in selected blogs. Stay away from those that redirect your links though. Then there are the forums... Won't say about those, you know them already. Let's head on to link exchanges programmes. You need to be careful here. Use partially automated exchanges. This way you have total control of where your links end up and who you link to. Ask and you shall be given. The rest is history... As already been mentioned, you can submit to directories. Then there is something I *never* do. Buy links!
you should get a mixture of backlinks using different anchor text, for e.g. get 10 links with anchor text "keyword1" get another 10 with "keyword2" etc etc.
Who knows how many links with the same anchor is too much? And what about forums with thousands of links?
