    Anybody heard of this?

    I've got a client that has dupe entries in the metadata:

    name="DC.description" conten="blah blah blah"
    name="description" content="blah blah blah"

    name="DC.subject" content="blah blah blah"
    name="keywords" content="blah blah blah"

    Here:
    http://dublincore.org/resources/faq/#whatsearchenginessupport
    "The well-known "all the Web" search engines including AltaVista, Yahoo, HotBot, etc. tend to avoid using the information found in meta elements in their indexing. This is because, unless the pages are from guaranteed "trusted" servers, the meta information is commonly used by unscrupulous content-providers for spamming, to mislead the indexes into givingWeb-pages a misleading rating."

    So I'm leaning toward telling him to take it out, since all he's doing is duping the regular metadata anyway.....

    Opinions?

    It can't hurt, and if it consists of a limited number of words that are applicable to the page it is bound to be used by the
    search engines. Have him use plurals and synonyms rather than
    duplications.
