I need help please, to answer Discussion Question

Please could anyone help me to answer this question:

When search engines first started, the results returned were very broad-based strictly on the keywords used in the search query. This allowed searchers to see a wide range of topics based on the query used. Now search engines narrow scope of results returned based on how they intuit the search. Do you think this trend is helpful or harmful and why?

There are countless articles about the impact of google's personalised search. What have you read so far?
How about you put in your answer so far and let us critique. We can ask you questions and point out where you've missed the nuances etc.

helpful. It is designed now to make inferences about what you mean.

Someone might type in - buy red shirt
and get the results for - red shirt for sale.

Google now still takes things literally, but also takes into account that there are other ways of saying things. Good luck with your homework

    Hello Everyone,

And welcome to the Best forum.

I need to answer this Discussion Question, but I do not know how?

Social media is becoming a more pervasive part of the web world and SEO. Sites like hunch.com and Bing incorporate social media outlets like Facebook and Twitter into their search results. How do you think incorporating social media will affect how the landscape of search engines and of searching? Is the incorporation of personal preferences and profiles a good thing? How will this affect privacy and how people manage their social media accounts?

    Could anyone help me, please?

Haven't heard of hunch.com but it currently redirects to a ebaynyc.com error page.

Incorporating social media means the results may be less reliable for fact-based queries but better if you're just trying to find the latest from a Kardashian.

    Personal preferences is good.

    Consider a search for "polo"
my horsey friend is looking for the sport
my daughter is looking for a car

    Privacy
It won't change a thing. People are, on the whole, unconcerned about privacy and it's ramifications. If they were more facebook profiles would be shut down, you wouldn't find graphic porn on twitter. People forget that what goes online stays online. They are probably blissfully unaware that archive.org is taking copies of their sites.

    Hi Everyone,

I need to answer this Discussion Question, but I do not know how?

Anyone can upload information to the Internet. How do you decide what information is valid and what is not? What criteria do you use to determine whether the information you receive is trustworthy and correct? What do you do to fact-check your information? How does a date factor into your process? What do you do if you find conflicting information?

My answer is to check the source of the information If the information is reliable or not, but this part is difficult for me:

How does a date factor into your process? What do you do if you find conflicting information?

    Could anyone help me, please?

Let's say I give you an answer.

You then have to decide if that information is valid or not.

    How do you do that?

By checking the source of the information if the information is reliable or not then I will decide if it is trustworthy and correct, but this part is difficult for me:

    Why is that difficult?

    Consider this

I give you some information about the American Civil War from the United States perspective and I give you some information from the Confederate States perspective. They're going to tell a slightly different story about the same events. How do you decide which account of events is most reliable? How do your personal biases impact on that?

The war was a long time ago. How does that make the information more or less reliable than a political event that happened yesterday such as the US President claiming to take a particular drug that he's touted?

I've chosen an American event because your IP shows up as America.

These concepts aren't hard. My kids could have complex conversations about the virtues of more/less Government involvement in people's lives when they were 8. You're old enough to be online, you should be able to demonstrate bias, fact finding etc in a written assignment.

Maybe you need to tell us what you think and we'll critique that. It seems fraudulent to be giving you the answers.

Well, First of all, I should search for the source of the topic, in other words, the media that have published it, in order to check whether this medium has a good reputation, whether it is a newspaper, website, radio station or TV.

Second: I have to ask myself whether the results of the study that I am looking at are worthy of credibility or not. Here, it is possible that these results will not be correct if they appear to be more amazing and better than what is believed.

The point is to be able to demonstrate your thought processes and justify the stance that you take. There will be a wrong, but there will also be many right answers.

Is this high school or university?

By "date factor", I think your teacher means, the date on which the information was published online.
Like a medical article for example.
A very old one might say that there is no medicine available for a particular disease.
A much newer article says that there is medicine available for that same disease.
So obviously you will trust the newer one more than the older one. This is in case both sources are trust worthy.
If one source is a public website where anyone can go and comment, sometimes just to promote their products, then further digging needs to be done.
If there is conflicting information, then you need to check multiple sources to make sure which one is more likely to be true.

We also saw this type of trend and search engine is correcting now these types of issues ..........

According to you ....... my meta title (King of Real Estate in Worls) and description are of real estate (For example) while we are providing web services and full contents are with web services keywords ..... so if you search "Who is real estate king" then our website will be in top 10 in Google result page ?????

This trend is gone ..... now you have to use contents also according to keywords what you mentioned in title and description.
My best suggestion is ...... Update yourself according to search engines rules and guidelines.
