How to advertise a service on my city?

I live in Italy. What's the best method to advertise information technology assistance & consulence in my city?
Consider I already know FB Ads.

 

Try your luck with classifieds on local newspapers or online classifieds.

 

You will want to run "for hire" ads. You can start on Craigslist, Indeed, and other job sites like Careerbuilder and Monster. On top of that, if your company has a website, promote your job offering and description on your site so that candidates can know what you're looking for - and what they're getting into. Also advertise in newspapers too. And definitely post your job listings on Dice.

 

Most people will still use Google or the Italian equivalent to search for stuff. Get on the paid search results in the search engines.

 

If you know FB Ads then you need to work with them. Also, before running ads do a bit of keyword research about it. SEO seems to be one of the many things that I can suggest for targeting a specific city in your country, again with keywords, business listings etc.

 

First - get in google directory, so when people search, you would be showing under maps as local.

 

I have had some limited experience with local cable TV and local radio. I actually ran local radio ads for an IT supplies business and they went nowhere. I ran them on a business oriented talk radio show and got zero results. I don't know if Italy has local cable channels, but here we have one for every metro area and they are always looking for people to do half hour weekly shows that they can run. It can't be a commercial, but if you did a show called, "Ask the IT Expert" and answered a question or spoke a topic weekly, it would likely greatly enhance your visibility in the community. I one time did a half hour interview with someone who interviewed local businesses and that actually produced some results. You could consider that approach, as well. Of course, this depends on whether you have any free access local cable TV channels like we have here in the U.S.

 

Considering that Italy is on a lockdown now, any method will not produce expected results.

 

As a long term strategy, If you have your own website or blog, I'd suggest writing articles to rank in Google. Optimize the articles including keywords from your city. If you can optimize for counties in your area or recognized places locally, it may even be easier to rank with less competition.

I think a fairly underused tactic when it comes to marketing to local businesses it a guerrila marketing approach. For example, printing out a bunch of flyers and giving one to every store you'd like to do business with. The only wrinkle in this is getting the flyer to the decision-maker (e.g. the owner). Still, the greatest thing about guerilla marketing is that it gets everyone talking about you! So I think its definitely something to entertain
