The Most Important Factor to Get First Page Ranking on Google

What is the most important factor to have your site/blog content on Google's first page?

 

I believe for quality content but and for fresh content.

Yes, quality and fresh content is so important. But there is another factor that includes and covers all factors, and so, it is the most important.

I would go with Combination of all the above factors as there are many factors to rank a page.

 

I would have to vote backlinks as most important.

However, building backlinks naturally is reliant on good quality content. At the same time though you can have the best quality content available for any given topic but if nobody finds it then nobody will read it or link to it.

Marketing your content using various methods can work if you have a large network of users following your work already but ultimately you need the content to rank well to get traffic to the content which requires backlinks.

Obviously many other factors are important: content structure and correctly coded site structure, site loading speed, domain age and trust, user experience and ability to convert, social signals. Everything plays a role in a successful website and its very difficult to choose a single most important but if I really had to think I would choose backlinks.

 

(An over-the-top, hypothetical example) Let's say you write an article on advancements in cancer research, and it gets front-page links from Mayo Clinic, Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins, the American Cancer Society, and some other premier medical websites — that article of yours will rank on page one.

That said, there's still a lot more than links to get consistently high rankings.

Yes, in that case your article will rank on page one.
But the problem is there is almost no way for most writers to get those links from those authority sites.
In spite of this, there are still so many articles that reach the first page while they have no strong backlink.

Low competition keywords with good quality content. If the content helps the person with their problem your content will get shared through social mediums and you will get traffic thus ranking you with the keywords you target. It takes time. If its a new site give it 3-6 months of consistent work on your site. Comments on your site helps as well. (engagement with your visitors)

2 years back, I would have definitely voted for quality content,
but today I am voting for domain age.
Its not really "age" factor of the domain, but this was the nearest option you had in the poll.

Google is definitely giving much higher preference to specific domains depending on niche.
It could be a manual selection, or a software based selection, I don't know about that.

But am definite that certain domains are prefered, even if the content on their website is only remotely related to the search term.

I myself saw results where "one" word from the search term was mentioned in the title tag of one such prefered domain,
and nowhere else can you find the search keywords or keyphrase anywhere else on the webpage itself.
But this was number 1 result for that term.
Number 2 or 3 results were no better.

This continued for entire last year.
Another update happened in Nov or Dec last year (2019), and it has worsened the situation even more.

There are more things happening, but ffor now, I will say one thing.
If you want top ranks in google for "cancer treatement",
then write the entire plot of an old movie about "Bicycle injury"
but do it in very good English, very very good English,
and make sure that your domain is old, and had to do something with "medicine" niche!

True. I have about 475 original articles on my website. None of them by itself draws a huge audience. But by writing good content around low-to-medium competition keywords, our ~475 articles together draw about 1,100 visitors each day.

Quality content, hands down. If you write engaging/educational content, people will come. The age old adage that has rang true throughout the years and has stayed consistent regardless of google algorithm updates: "Content is King".

 

Agree. Nowadays you have to try one after another to see what works in certain case. Missed the old days, when a few backlinks with anchor text worked like a charm..

It is a while that quality and fresh content is not all Google wants. It wants something more... One thing more indeed. Something that you can't buy.
Even if you are not a writer, you can ask a good freelance writer to write fresh and quality articles for you. But still you need something more to reach the first page.
