[Suggestion] Reply to post via PM. To avoid PM me and PM sent type of posts

Hi,

There has been a persistence issue with PM me the URL, info yada yada kind of posts. This generates thousands of useless posts that should be prevented.

We can have some kind of facility to reply to the post via PM.

It can be like this at the end of each post there can be a "Send PM" button:


If some one clicks on the "Send PM" button in a Post, it will prefill the Recipients(user to whom message to be sent), Title and Message for the new PM:

The Title of the PM will be Thread title, the Message will get prefilled with "In Reply to your Post "Title of the post". Something like this:


This can make the things a bit easy as with just one click one can send a prefilled PM to the poster. For sure it will also reduce the pm me info / url / yada yada kind of posts.

Is this something that we can do at DP.

Awesome suggestion in my posts.I dont like pm me url posts though people have to post since there is no url mentioned on thread.I think it will be great if Shawn implement this..

The PM me the URL, info yada yada kind of posts has also another value. If the thread is really interesting, then if people will post this yada yada's the thread will often come to the top of the threads.... else interesting threads will go down and down... and nobody will read them...

Also, if a thread has lots of yada yadas, this means it presents an interesting site / domain / service / offer... so you should read it.

 

Agreed, I like it! If it could also auto subscribe to the thread, I think that will help. As a mod in another thread on this topic pointed out that many people may be afraid of "loosing" the thread if they dont understand the whole subscribed viewing concept.

i think Vbforum hack is also available for that Private mesg button.

This hack was made for Vb 3.5, though a few people has said that it works fine in 3.6. But I am sure if Shawn really wants to do this he can either code one custom for DP or modify this one enough to make it work.
