Since I have NEVER seen a PERFECT human nor ever expect to see one, I guess EVERYONE fits the category.

Who ever bioengineered all the spammers and scammers ought to be sued. Oh wait, that has more to do with bioengineered fools.

So, if I eventually get a hip replacement, I will be a bio-engineered human? It would actually be correcting a flawed hip that I have.

The bad news is that you would no longer be hip. The good news is that you would become the Bionic Man.:)

You know, my kids would agree that I need that kind of hip replacement, too. :)

Maybe just not in the media that you follow?

There seems to be lots about embryo selection and gene swapping. R&D moves slowly so it's not a daily thing, but there is a lot of work going on - read up on CRISPR

I have huge sympathy for parents carrying a problematic gene who want to spare their children the same fate.

To me, the most exciting gene work being done revolves around the disease of aging. There are some scientists who believe that it is, indeed, a disease as it serves no purpose to benefit the species, yet has stayed a constant throughout the evolution of life. They are using genetic switches and other such trickery to age and de-age laboratory rats with promising results. But they need to HURRY UP!!! :)

If we want to live forever then we need to stop breeding. The planet can't feed an infinite number of people.

Nah, that is just a technology issue. I remember hearing the population guru's in the 1970's saying that we would all be starving in 20 years due to rampant population growth. Turns out that agricultural technology improved and we are all still eating, for the most part, and those that aren't is not because of a shortage of food worldwide, but a shortage in their specific geography (typically due to poor leadership issues.)

And, if the population continues to grow and we run out of real estate (just fly over the USA at night to see how much real estate is unlit and still available) we will have enough people and long term brain power to move to the next planet. Imagine if Newton, Galileo, Einstein, etc., were still around! :)
