    And do not forget that a lawyer will not work for free, so the OP had better be SURE that recovering his emails is WORTH whatever the lawyer will charge EVEN IF THE LAWYER IS UNABLE TO RECOVER THEM.

    FWIW we paid NZ$450/hour earlier this year.

    It is hard to see how essential they are to him when it APPEARS that he has done nothing constructive to recover them. Contacting Yahoo is not constructive in my book since based on my experiences with Yahoo that is a useless waste of time. Getting a lawyer is his only option, and yet even after 5 whole months since he originally started this thread, he still does not have a lawyer. In his case time is of the essence, and he is wasting his time making it less and less likely that hiring a lawyer would do any good at all.

    HOw much amount should I keep in mind before going ahead like how much he could charge me as a start or the minimum

    If you were in NZ you'd probably be able to get an initial consultation for free and the lawyer would be able to outline a plan and give you an idea of how many hours are involved. Initially, it's just a letter so you'd be looking at an hour but every time the lawyer has to do something - talk to you, talk to Yahoo, dictate a letter - there will be a charge involved.

    Don't know where you are in the world as you're quite sketchy about it, in the UK for an experienced lawyer it would cost £250-£300 per hour, as this would be a complex case you should set aside at least £5000.

    Seriously how has the loss of these emails affected your life? if you can't move on from it I would seriously consider seeing a psychiatrist and getting some professional help, probably cheaper than a lawyer.

    The thing is the action which they told me here is finding a lawyer here; which I cannot do..
