If *General Chat* had a Best Answer award, you would now have it. I think it imperative that we all remind ourselves that the mods do this on a voluntary basis because they believe in this site. So hats off to them and thank goodness they do what they do, lest the place be over run with scammers/spammers.(so what, if a few trolls are allowed to live) There are those who state that without the odd troll, it might get boring.
He's just a sad pathetic troll, if I was a mod he'd have been banned long ago, he only comes here to spam his crappy YouTube channel and to post his sad racist/sexist bile.
If I was a mod he would absolutely be on my hit list for permanent removal. I would exorcise him for the overall good of the site.
If I was a mod I would definitely ban some people who think its ok to be arrogant and they think they are somehow superior to the others.
You have presented us with a philosophical dilemma. You see if you were to take it on yourself to judge who or not is arrogant, are you not then assuming that you are somehow superior to others?
It is simple. Suppose if I am given the duties of a moderator here, am I not already in a position to judge who or not is behaving properly? That will give me a little advantage over the others or... superiority(if you want to call it that).
Checkmate....very good answer and like worthy. Yes I am being arrogant in assuming that I can determine which posts or not deserve likes.
Really?....Look, sometimes we might not agree with a decision/action that a mod may or may not perform. But intelligent, mature members ought to realize that the mods have a duty to perform. Why on earth would anyone dislike them, let alone hate them? That would amount to pure, childish stupidity.
Exactly the point. Everyone don't think the same way. If I was a mod, I would delete a lot of junk(just my view) and fake posts on digitalpoint. -- edited On second thought, there are not many junk posts. I stand corrected! "May be verify authenticity of sellers"
Actually I think you got it right the first time around. But if the mods were to delete each and every junk post, we would lose 50% of our overall content and that would never do......."Lord give us the power to accept what we cannot change, and the will to change what we can, and the wisdom to know the difference".
I thought, may be it is just me who find content junk. It may be useful for someone else. Anyway some moderation will help generate better content too. Like reject single line no sense answers/posts. Other day, I was updating security stackexchange, which has insane but good level of moderation. The moderation was too quick. The moderator had a good keyboard, I bet. When you need quality, you also need good moderation.
I want to have the option to delete my account, all the posts and threads I've made on Digital Point forum.
If I was a mod, I would be depressed... They have to make too many tough decisions and some of the people hate them, really unfair.
