"Pm me the info/URL/website...etc"

There has got to be a better way, or some sort of rule that can be enforced about this. just went through a thread with one legitimate post and the next 20 or so were "PM me the URL"

I don't necessarily have the answer, but I do think there are thousands of useless posts like this that can be prevented, so people aren't padding their post count. Maybe just requiring that if someone is interested to send that type of request via PM to the OP?

I dont know what do you all think?

    That is what I do.
I say, pm me as I do not answer posts where you want me to pm you.
PM me as I will not pm you, so don't ask.
    Something on that line.

And still, people who have no concept or comprehension will post "pm me"

Very few people seem to read through guidelines set in the original thread. And then you get people posting 'pm me details' long after the site has been sold because they gloss over the entire thread up to that point.

No answers from me either. Doing things iowadawg's way us perfect, but you cannot control responses from the members here who don't see or read well :D

Use [IMG] - and the mods will sort it out (although we'd rather we didn't have to :))

People are often unaware that they can subscribe to a thread without posting - so they think they'll lose track of where they've responded if they don't actually post. Again, that's organisational. If you are subscribed you'll see [IMG] in the forum list so you know you've subscribed.

Trust me... I've posted many new threads on this forum and other forums for sales, and I always say, "PM me if interested" and yet... people still post. Wtf?

Most people just immediatly neglect the rest of the post when they get to know what they want to know.

I would not like to do that, and give some poor schmuck an infraction just because he has a reading and comprehension problem.

I just ignore those who post in my threads "pm me"

And what does help, is when a sale is over, or an offer is no longer valid, is to use that symbol and ask a mod to close the thread.

I think this has been discussed before. If I can still remember mods suggest that try to post all the details of your website. But "Pm me the URL" can't be avoided because of some SEO reasons.

I really dont want to need to report a thread to a moderator as they do a lot around here already, I just really think the quality of the forum, though just a tiny bit, drops with all these types of posts.

I am glad Sarahk posted what she thought (Id rather listen to a mod;)) Maybe if infractions were stepped up for just a little while to get people PMing the OP rather than just asking for the PM could help?
