Hello webmasters, I am building a new site and I need some suggestions on categories I should add. Currently I only came up with the following: Custom. Handmade. Accessories. The website is a portal that connects buyers and sellers. It's somewhat like eBay. Regards, Farris
I fear your question is a bit too general. If you could provide more details (and maybe a link), it would be easier to advise you. Also, if your site is similar to eBay, have you considered simply checking out eBay's categories?
What you have so far is good. I would also add the following: 1. Handcrafted. 2. Vintage. 3. Unique "Handmade" sounds a bit cheesy, please go with "Handcrafted". Good luck to you with this.
Hello guys, the site is not yet live I am in the first phase. I am doing some brainstorming for categories and/or sections of the website.
Antiques Art Automotive Baby(baby supplies) Books Business & Industrial Cameras & Film Cell phones & Accessories Clothing Coins/Stamps Collectables Computers Electronics Crafts Toys Entertainment Gift Cards Health & Beauty Jewellery Music Pet Supplies Pottery & Glass Real Estate Sporting Goods Travel Videos I'm sure there are many more, but these are the main ones.
It's somewhat like eBay but you could only come up with 3 categories? I mean...that maxed you out? You didn't even go to ebay to look at their categories? I am confused..... "Custom" and "Handmade" can be the same the same thing..... hell accessories could be customer made by hand.... I think you should move on to a different idea. This sounds like it will be too much of a challenge for you. I honestly don't think you have what it takes to get beyond the most simplest stage of this project for it to test the market.
It's not exactly like eBay. There are some differences, especially in the categories part. When I said it's like eBay I meant people can list their item for sale. The problem is that people will list anything, so I wanted some ideas for categories, but to be honest I am thinking of making it just tags with no categories because it's hard to categorize what people will post.
How can anyone help you on making recommendations on a niche when you haven't defined what that niche is?
FarrisFahad, I prefer to keep a small list of categories at the beginning but have them populated. What I am trying to avoid is to have a list of categories with empty content.
