    I wouldn't want a beginner doing seo on my sites, you need to learn the trade first before you even think about looking for clients.

    It takes time to build up your example sites for your portfolio, to get established at the article directories, etc. I'd recommend that while you're doing all that you get work with an SEO company and learn from them as much as you can. Once you pass through being a beginner, to intermediate, and finally to expert you can consider finding leaving their employ and finding your own clients.

    The type of clients you might get now - the ones who won't realise how out of your depth you are - are the clients who will also try to beat you down on price, pay late (if they do), and do chargebacks.
