How to Conquer any keyword in Google for Beginners

I just wrote a article on starting a new site from the ground up, skipping the sandbox and ranking fast. It is simple and doesn't get in too deep. I was planning on it but decided to write articles on each section and this would be a quick guide for beginners on what to do. I think the next will be on don'ts.

Why are you withholding the link love on those article directories?

If they are legimiate services that you recommend to others you should remove the rel="nofollow"

They had that on them. I just copied the list from a text file I saved of them. Too lazy to take out the nofollows. I am going to go through them later and add and remove sites. Then I will take the nofollows off. I got a list of over 1000 so I will be adding more later.

I have a question and started it PM but thought there may be other newbies reading who have the same question so I'm sorry if asking in the thread is not appropriate. Anyway, you recommend only submitting one article to each of the directories. Why is this? I have recently started submitting articles and have chosen 11 directories that I have been submitting each of my articles too. Sounds like I may be hurting myself by doing this and should stop. Thanks for being such a great help to us beginners!

 

Np - I hope the article is good for beginners. If so my goal was accomplished

I recommend that because Google sees each version as a duplicate copy and since all point links back to your site Google sees that it was a way to build backlinks fast. Because it is the same article the value of each is discredited to a certain degree depending on certain factors such as how many sites have the article. When each is unique you get high value out of each.
Understand? Google now tracks duplicate content because a few years ago you could use the same content on all your sites and they would all rank well. google now realizes one site must be the originator of that content and the rest should have a discredited value if any. Hope that answers your question.

interesting take on SEO promotion and trying to tackle google but i can assure you your comments and things will help and can get you no 1 in more obscure markets but will not get you close in competitive it takes much more.

 

Not so. I made it simple for beginners and didn't go too far in-depth but I gave all the info I use for highly competitive phrases. But then feel free to tell us what works

But won't the "one article per directory" suggestion be undermined by article scrapers sites and the like.

I think "conquer" may be a bit of an overstatement, but a good article and resource for beginners. Just make sure you're writing high quality unique content on the site you are promoting as well.

Don't worry about the scrapers. Google and the others can usually tell very easily when the content appeared and which article is the original. And there isn't much you can do about it anyway.

Yeah it can be but it takes them a while to find it so Google sees the original site as the owner.I use CopyScape to track them and then have their sites shut down. So far I have only had to do that once. Usually they will remove it.
If they leave your link on it leave them alone or ask them to take off half or 2/3s of the article.

Glad you made that point. Sites that scrape generally scrape many sites so will have mostly duplicate content. Google will see this and decide they stole it and so will discredit it and any links going out of it but the original should still retain its value.

I know what you mean. Sometimes we get so 'smart' we forget some of those simple things that can make a ranking.
