Will I get in trouble?

    I recently made a purchase that falls into the adult category (no, it wasn’t prostitution).

    I have been with PayPal for a long time, always keep a decent balance, and have PayPal credit that has never even had a late payment.

    I didn’t know what I was doing was against PayPal’s rules until the person didn’t send the item and I starting googling things to see what to do.

    I know that I’d easily win my dispute but aside from being embarrassed having to tell anyone else about this at PayPal, I’ve read they close adult related seller’s accounts, so even though I didn’t know, I was technically violating the rules too, right?

    So if I make the dispute to get my money back will PayPal even possibly ban me for having purchased this item in the first place?

    I want my money back and I don’t like getting ripped off but I need my PayPal account and can’t risk losing it.

    Any help on what to do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    You were a buyer, not a seller. I am not sure here, but I think you are the victim in this case...
    Why would paypal cancel buyer's account? Is that in their terms?

    I mean, didn’t I still violate their terms of agreement buy purchasing something that is adult related? If it’s not allowed, is the seller the only one that would be blamed?

    Paypal protects their buyers heavily, I don't think they will cancel your account. Like I said, I think you are the victim in this case.

    No need to worry. PayPal buyer protection is very good. If you create dispute on transaction they not suspend or close your account.

    I’m still unsure why people say this.

    Besides that, they will probably want to talk to me about it. That will be humiliating.

    Between the fear and embarrassment, I think that I’m screwed. Pun unintended.

    OMG that's intriguing!
    What did you buy that PayPal doesn't see happening hundreds of times every day?
    It's like when women get all precious about vibrators when they go through airport security as if they're the first woman to ever do that.

    I guess the key lesson is not to do anything you wouldn't want to be open about to a complete stranger who will forget you 5 minutes after the call.

    I really can’t imagine what it would be that wouldn’t earn you a high 5 and a “you dirty dog” slap on the back.

    Unless of course it was kiddie porn or something really violent - but there was no mention of it being illegal.
