What the heck happened to WordPress this week? Blocks? Menu effed!

I'm losing my mind. I do not like the way WP has changed the layout in the area where you write posts! There's a huge box to type the title in. UGLY. I have not even clicked the update button yet. How did it change? Also, I clicked the X on the blocks/document panel and lost my whole menu. AWFUL. It is major! :(

Actually you're not, I too noticed a couple of technical snafus lately. I can only assume some maintenance work was being done, and all will be well soon enough.;)

There is an automatic update option in WordPress, you probably have that turned on - although I noticed a few of my sites auto updated to 4.9 not 5
There is an option to go back to the old post editor

Apparently this was a major upgrade and a number of problems were anticipated.

I did a quick video on how to change back to the classic editor. There is a plugin that Wordpress will be supporting until 2022.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,
    Chris

This seems to be typical any more. Spend THOUSANDS of dollars/hours getting something to work correctly, then when every thing works and the programmers have nothing else to do, have the programmers fix that is which NOT broken making it NOW broken. Better to fire the programmers once everything is working to avoid this "Woe is me, how am I going to feed my family if I cannot find some way to trash what I have already accomplished?"
