After long hardwork and desperation searching web to prepare for a linux server on my VPS plan, i wrote my tutorial for somebody like me who is new to vps and dedicated server felt that it could be helpful.

Please comment and any advice would be appreciated.:p

Nice guide, i was a noob to linux until about 18months ago (well i still am) i loved debian for the same reason you do (apt-get) but recently i got a VPS with Fedora Core 6 installed on there and the Yum command (similar to apt-get) is amazing, makes things so much quicker and easier to install rather then compiling the source code yourself.

nice to hear that. does yum comes preinstalled with your os? i had problems with my vps where yum needs to get installed before anything. had problems though.
