Why are so many people's sites so ugly on dp? Why are they empty of content also?

    Hello,

Im really sorry if i offend anyone. But let me rant for a few lines.

Attack me if you feel like it. I dont care. These are my opinions.

I just wanted to know why are there so many members here that have ugly websites? I honeslty came on dp thinking that everyone has a top-notch or atleast decent website. Either by looks, or by content.

Everyone here seems to have the same websites. Directory submission, proxy sites, webmaster forums, SEO forums, SEO blogs, gambling forums/blogs, celebrity forums/blogs. I mean, no offence. If thats how you make money than thats cool.

So many websites i see here have no content in them. Can someone tell me how that guy who made a thread about $60,000-in-3-months is going to make money? He said he made 1000 domains in like one day. Anyone want to explain to me what the content is on these domains? A bunch of links....a person googles for xxxxx and gets one of those domains, clicks it on google, gets ot the website...sees its full of links and advertisements, and clicks an ad just for the heck of it, so the person than gets charged, even though the person online didnt really want it/use it.

Anyone want to give m e a peak of what is on one of those domains?

Also, why are so many people's websites on here not really that good looking. LETS BE TOTALLY HONEST.........I DONT EVEN OWN A WEBSITE. These are just my opinions.

Also, do you think there is a shortage of graphic designers?

Thanks, and sorry if i offended anyone. Im a nice person, trust me.

    Thanks dudes.

The same reason posts and threads are sometimes without merit or worthy content.

    (see here for example)

I guess some people just like to talk BS. You know, a hidden identity behind the keyboard. But let's see what the others have to say about your post.

Its not that people have ONLY ugly websites.

But if you see the signature links then you will surely find the site as you described (Directory submission, proxy sites, webmaster forums, SEO forums, SEO blogs etc. etc.) because this place is the market for those sites only. Why will somebody put a wedding site or consumer sales site on his footer?

The guy is still allowed to have an opinion, whether he owns a website or not is totally irrelevant.

I actually agree with you. I haven't been on this website long but it seems to me it's filled up with people who are more interested in making money than making quality websites. That, in itself isn't an issue at all. Everyone loves making money however the contrast between dp's user base and say, sitepoint's user base is quite obvious. Sitepoint seems to have more users who try and do both, make money with quality websites.

I know i'm making gross generalizations but that is just what i've noticed.

Amen to that. The opening post in this thread reminds me of my son's comments from back when he played high school soccer. He said that the players just ignore the fans on the sidelines telling them what to do. They focus their attention on listening to other players and to experienced coaches.

The same people viewing the websites are the same people giving those opinions. In other words, the fans paying tickets to watch the world cup soccer players want to see a good show. I don't want my hero not even updating his blog because he doesn't need to or leaves a remark like beat me first before I do what you want.

This was a question raised a few months ago at a designer convention. Do you guys still visit other websites or look at other art works and just look at it and praise it? Do professional soccer players don't get the thrill anymore when they watch other teams play? Just sit there and fall asleep without clinching or giving a feedback (positive or negative). Everyone can subconciously answer that.

Yes, I did play games professionally (online games that is) and I hated when someone told me what to do and guess what, I did that too and has been part of the audience many times. But I guess opinions has the right to each his own point of view. That's the chain of it all.

Hmmm, lets see your critical thinking skills.

So i cant judge how a website looks if i dont have one?

By the same logic, if i dont have a car...i'm not allowed to judge between the looks of a civic v.s. a bentley?

Yes, maybe a good point....but how about websites that arent proxy, SEO, directory submission related etc..WHat about those?

Take a look in the BST section. Some people who sell websites(when they post the actual website)....they look like crap?

    Whats your defense there?

could be 'cos they don't care about the looks of the site or don't have time/money to invest in beautifying it.

Even if it is a wedding site or consumer site....i dont care. I am talking about are they quality? Do they provide quality content for their audiences?

Tell me why a lot of the wesbites in the buy and sell section look so digusting. Most of the time the seller doesnt post the site....but when he does....boy, it looks like something done by one of those sites that make sites automatically.

Also, can someone kind enough tell me what that guy($60,000 in 3 month) who made like 1000 domains has on each of those domains?

Really interested. He made 1000 domains or something in like a day.

How the hell am i talking BS?

If someone critiques a website, and says it doesnt look good......that person is now talking BS??

This is how it works in the graphic design industry?
