I never have had any issues with getting into a creative mode. Unfortunately that doesn't always translate into a motivated mode.
The best thing is to put music, some instrumental rock and get to work. Also take regular breaks to relax
Depends on the music. It can either be a distraction or improve work flow. Not talking from personal experience but I think a lot of writers are taking Adderall.
Adderall.......is that a performance enhancing drug? "Performance enhancing" is a bit of an oxymoron.
It's a stimulant drug. Basically one of those drugs that "let's you get shit done". Lots of college students are on it.
When I feel distracted or unmotivated I like to clean my apartment. It could be cleaning just one thing. This helps because it takes some physical movement and it is really satisfying after. This simple accomplishment of having cleaned my apartment energizes me, makes me feel more optimistic and motivated. I then return to writing with more focused mind.
Over 700 comments and this is the 1st time I have read this tip. It could just work and next time I am not in the mood to write, I will try it.
Writing when not in the mood = low quality or poor work in my opinion ... as much as writing isn't taxing like say artistic work like painting ... it is difficult to write when not in mood .... A stroll along the park, a cup of coffee or doing something relaxing helps ...
This is something that I have struggled with all my adult life. My writing is amateurish and frankly boring, when I'm not in the mood. But if I am I can and have created some stuff that I am proud of, which in turn has helped me to pay some bills. Others writers are mechanical and there is no difference in their writing irregardless of what mood they are in. These writers however never seem to write anything worth remembering.
Writing is a creative process and just like any other creative process...it's painful. It's painful because you're connecting new neurological paths to each other in your brain. Most people can't endure this process on a daily basis. I mean, who wants to do homework for the rest of their life ya' know, especially to pay the bills. Copying others work is outright wrong, but rewriting happens all the time in this field. Don't be fooled. Even the greatest artist themselves had to learn by re-drawing the works of great artist before them. It's how we learn. Not plagiarism, but rewriting. It's the law of repetition. Do something over and over until you learn the principles to create it yourself.
I think it comes down to what people are passionate about. People write because they are passionate about a subject or topic. They may have several interests and passions as well. So when they write it is like running water just flowing out what comes naturally to them. These types of people can write all day everyday on topics that interest them. When people stumble it is most likely they are on a topic they are unsure about or writing about something they have no interest in personnally. They may be writing just to earn a paycheck and and have grumblings about writing on things they don't love to think or talk about.
First find out your hobbies and your interest if your interest in sports then figure out the newspaper related your sports and watch movies with subtitles and repeat movie words again in your mind.otherwise start to listen your favorite singer songs and write his/her words in a copy.it's a start way to divert your mood.
It's a fact that music can change your mood and motivate by inspiring, and taking you away from what is dragging you down.
Hi there. When I'm not in the mood to write, I'll take a break, go to a quiet spot and the inspiration will just come without me expecting it. The key important thing is to be relaxed. I will also get inspiration from songs, viral news, social media shares and articles from other bloggers.
