Changing the field its a bit extreme. Here is what I do. Gather some content, do a bit of research and then produce them in my own words. And if you can add some your own thoughts and insights then its even better. Just make sure that what you produce is actionable and useful to your audience. Giving your audience a 5000 words article which is useless and nothing on it is actually providing any information about the concerned topic will get you nowhere. The article may be 100% unique but still it will never rank in good positions.

I like that part but this required lots of research and that depends on how you are experts on that subject and that works great. Getting links with desired anchor text and dominating on Google has gone.

Why are you creating a site if you aren't an expert on that subject?

    Lost in translation?

@mrb1129 said "Just make sure that what you produce is actionable and useful to your audience."
and you (@Prof.stan) replied with "I like that part but this required lots of research and that depends on how you are experts on that subject"

My point was that it's not "I like that but", there is no "but", I'm sick of seeing websites thrown together by wannabes.

It's not an "either/or" issue. We need (1) high-quality content. Otherwise, why are we wasting our time filling the internet with more junk? It has plenty of worthless garbage already! AND (2) we need good SEO, including good internal and inbound links. Those two together are likely to bring success to your website. Just one of them alone is insufficient.

High quality content, Yes. But totally unique, not so much. Because its impossible to produce unique content everytime.
