I remember when digital point was full of webmasters posting everywhere. I just joined because I’m getting back into the webmasters realm. Does anyone here remember when digital point was overwhelming with webmasters? What happened?
I have a feeling that's going to change a bit. With Facebook compromising everyone's personal info, I think people are going to start looking back at what being safe is! Outside of a few scammers that the web world has built things to guard against, social forums and websites are still the best IMO! It just takes a few things like the Facebook scandal for them to realize it!
Yes Facebook was data harvesting on a whole nother level! People will still go there because they have a history there.
It will be interesting to see what happens in this regard. Perhaps being able to participate in "social" groups anonymously will make a comeback.
Facebook seems to have sucked the life out of forums which is a shame. I'd rather have privacy of forums.
I think forums will bounce back in time. There's a lot of mistrust with fb, and the next generation of webmasters and bloggers won't even use it.
I doubt that. There are a lot of websites which are more search engine friendly in terms of getting answers for a webmaster. For example, Stack Overflow. Forums will die eventually.
I wonder why Slack wont take off, I've tried to get people into joining a cpl of those and they love the platform but since their cpl thousand social network isn't instantly in the same spot, it fails.
Forums are, and most likely will remain, a solid and reliable source of information and social connection since they have been used for so long and tend to have a publicly accountable information relay.
Make sure to do your part to increase people's knowledge about where good forums are and everything should be allllll good :]
