What are you guys doing for bookkeeping? It's the new year, and I want to do better this time around.... What software do you guys like? Thanks!
Hi, here's a full list of accounting software vendors and a summary of what each company says it offers. https://www.businessnewsdaily.com/7543-best-accounting-software.html Hope this helps!
I created my own spreadsheets with Open Office. But I did play around with GnuCash a couple years ago and it looked okay. It's free and I see it on the list that Pamela mentioned.
Zipbooks: Pros sync with cards is better Better accounting features receive payments faster if you qualify they give you like 90% of an invoice sent before client pays you (loan) Cons use to be 100% free for all features, now they have different plans from free to $125 a month a higher transaction for clients paying with American Express Waveapps: Pros 100% free about the same features as Zipbooks Cons sync between wave and bank accounts is lacking sluggish at times This is what I recall from the last time I use waveapps.
We use QuickBooks and we can simply provide our accountant with a back up file at the end of the year (doing it right now, in fact) that he then works with in his office. Most accountants, in my experience, are very happy to work with QB. You do have to purchase a valid license for it, of course.
Yea, Quickbooks would be the most popular accounting software out there in my opinion. You can say it’s the 800 pound Gorilla in the room when it comes to accounting software .
Quickbooks and other popular commercial ones are a good idea especially once you are growing. If you have to get an accountant in the future, it saves a ton of time and work to be using a system that they're already comfortable with. Quickbooks is handedly the most popular.
I'm actually an accountant from Sydney Australia but I would say Quickbooks is a good accounting software. In Australia, I also like MYOB & Xero. Xero has a great interface but I'm not sure if you can get it in the US or UK
So, is QB used in Australia? Is there an Australian version of it? I assume that QB-US and QB-AUS would be different due to differences in corporate accounting and tax laws, regulations, and best practices? Or are the majority of accounting systems pretty much the same, no matter the country?
Xero is definitely international, it's transaction matching model is flawed - but better than myob's. I'm surprised QuickBooks is still around, didn't they have that 1c fraud thing with their online banking?
They sure are ie https://quickbooks.intuit.com/au/ Xero originated in New Zealand. They have an excellent reputation in Australia. More & more accounting firms here in Australia are moving to them. Their tax software is getting better over time.
I'd be interested in your opinion. I'm going through the instruction manual on it now. Never used it myself but I've had a copy on my hard drive for a few years. I get lazy sometimes and my spreadsheets have worked well for me s far.
I use Reckon One for my accounting needs. It's a cloud accounting package for Australia and has a phone app I can use to send invoices before I even leave the client's property if I am doing offline jobs. For my online stuff I dump the output of Blesta and Ebay into it.
