India has acheived more things in her 60 years of Independence

There's no need to take away power from the people & confer it on one person. I'll let the CBI do it's job & deal with corruption among bureaucrats. There are far more literate people in India compared to illiterate people. Almost double the number. There are close to 66% people in India literate which is really appreciable considering the amount of people that live in India.

As far as poverty is concerned, with the growth rate India has, Poverty is expected to be conqured pretty soon. India has the 12th highest GDP as well, our Government is also operating various programs with the WHO to reduce the number of Deaths by Hunger

Oh and I completely disagree with the Dictator concept proposed by Freewebspace. Democracy is 10 times better. Although I believe that small parties should not be allowed to compete in the elections as they heavily influence the election results and don't let a single party form the majority.

No, however high a GDP we have, its not easy to remove poverty. Most of the fruits of economic progress is going to people who are already quite rich.

Check out the villages...they are the true picture of our country. Delhi, Bombay and Bangalore are great, but whole of India doesw not reside in these cities.

The perfect example of what I'm trying to say is China. Its quite a rich country now, but even then, there are many villages in China whose conditions are worse than Indian villages. There has to be a mechanism for a more equitable distribution of wealth.
