    hi mates,

i am writing regular health based blog which is around 700 words long. few days back i search on google and it shoes 2000-3000 words content is good for seo.
    then...

700 words is not good ?
should i increase words? but what if the matter is no longer then 700-800 words?
is 700 word article works in seo or not?

what to do, i am confused ????

Longer articles perform better in SERPs.

Longer articles perform better, but good content is good content! Don't pad out just to try and reach the 2000 words - make your content relevant and unique.

TheSmallBizExpert gives you good advise. You must write for the reader and he won't want to waste his time on filler content.

It used to be that 300-word articles were the benchmark. Then Google wanted 500 - 700-word articles. Now it gives less search love to articles below 1000 words. The search engines continue to increase the number of words for what they consider to be high-value pieces of content.

But in the end, if you interest your readers and keep them coming back for more you're doing it right.

The other thing is that, if you're looking to write longer blogs - make the subject wider then in sections go with what you would usually write in your 500 blogs - for example - instead of "why x supplement is good for you" write a longer form piece "the 10 best supplements for weight gain" (or whatever)

Unique and Informative content attract readers. Search Engine crawlers love to discover the unique and informative content, So go with long content of 2000 words.

There is more chance of getting found for long tail keywords if you publish a longer article.

Just write good content, if it comes out shorter or longer--I would not be worried about it.

One thing I would focus on though, is writing good titles for your blog posts.

After all, if no one clicks through to read your post--then it does not matter how long it is.

That's a very good point marvinc. Your title is just like a headline for an ad. Ted Nicholas wrote, in Magic Words, that a change of one single word in the headline of one of his sales letters increased sales by 1800%. That was a direct mail piece during the pre-internet era but it still applies online.

It depends, do not write 2000 words that you can just squeeze into 700 words...
In my opinion, 300-700-1000 words is still shallow content. Why would your
700 word article rank any better then someone putting out 2000-5000 word articles?
(assuming both sites were at the same ranking level....)

unless you really have good authority, then posting mass amounts of articles will
certainly not help you as you would have to promote each article in order to
achieve the ranking results you are looking for, and that takes time...

unless the article is 2000-5000 words full of crap, then larger article often perform
better in search engines, however, people do not read as much unless the content
really relates to the reader that he or she just cant resist the read, and if you have
a poorly designed site, then it may not matter if you post 10,000 word articles....

There are tons of factors that can affect your bounce rate:

    quality of site
quality of content (look & feel)
(I am not going to waste my time reading a 5,000 word article
if the site looks like it was made by a $2 whore....)

and many other factors that determine if your visitors keep going,
or if they bounce within the first 5 seconds because you mislead them....

google really loves deep level in-depth content...

    for example:

    (money page)
1: my camera review 2000 words....
    whoppie, another camera review....

    (non-money page)
2: now back up your camera review with an awesome
supporting article that goes in-depth and technical about
cameras, then from this article, then you can support other
cameras that relate by linking to other camera reviews....
    (this is called internal linking....)

These days if you want to make it....

    • you have to pull the wow factor card on your visitors.
    • you have to wow google into loving your content/site.

This is still good advice for non-seo traffic as you will still pull
visitors in by using good seo practices....

other wise, google is simply going to say, or not say:
Fuck you, we can do better! maybe harsh, but true....
