It looks like a PSA but I've got default ad for that and I know that it works... This ad has like taken over one of my sites past two days and I think it explains why my CTR has dropped by ~60%
Filter the site in your competitive ad filter thing... saw one for a server software... but it left not long after.
Ads like that tend to show up when you set your site to run image banners. Its basically a way around that persay. I hated it when I had adsense.. but that was long ago.
Usually that kind of ad is reserved for someone who buys your ad spot's inventory so it's usually CPM based. Sometimes you'll get really relevant ads (the advertiser who has specifically targeted your site), and other times you'll get those "across the board" ads for "make money at home", etc.
That's not really true. The advertiser would have to pay more than the ads that would ORIGINALLY go into that spot. Remember that the more you make, the more Adsense makes; so they will do all they can to optimize your earnings, because it translates into more earnings for them. If the CPM ads make less than the text ads that would normally go into that spot, they wouldn't sell the whole block to one advertiser.
Actually its google playing around. Ads that get the more clicks get more attention. Thus thats why its in a BIG window all on its own. Google word: http://adsense.blogspot.com/2005/08/fewer-ads-more-money.html Pierce
If an advertiser targets a site, why is it that you still end up with 1 cent? I would have thought, by them targetting a site, the payout would be decent. However, it almost always never the case.
Site targeted ads are CPM baised, meaning if you get a click on every impression, you get the set CPM, if thats $1/1000 then thats what you get. Same if you get 0 clicks, you get the same $1/1000. Google says it shows the ads worth more. So if the CPM/site targeted ad is not as high as the CPC ad, then the CPC ad is shown, otherwise its the CPM ad. Pierce
Ya, its a CPM that buys out your ad space. i run the ad campaign for a company that i work for, and we had a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 take over our ad box(that usually holds 3 ads), for 2 days. It payed pretty well, about $3.40/1000, i was sad to see it go, but it wasnt converting, so i dont blame them.
Well I filtered it out and no surprise, my earnings are back to normal again....though still too low of course
