I recently launched my new e-commerce website. as always I am advertising, telling my family and friends... conning my friends into buying from me etc... Now I am trying to generate sales, which is a time consuming process. How long did it take you guys to get your first sale, and how difficult was it for you guys?
Depends, Depends on your efforts and marketing techniques you are using. For me it takes 3 months to generate sales from my blog. So, it will varies from person to person.
Sales! Everyone loves this word. It is not Word only but a complete Life of Business. First Day First Sale! It happens! It is True! There are many factors to responsible for sales... User visit your website via paid campaign. look, but don't purchase. So many things responsible for it - 1. New website user think Oh! "Untrustful link" - who can do those who do always online purchase 2. New website - Visitor scroll everything but unable to discover the thing looking for... - Due to bad keyword target or wrong keyword target 3. New Website - User need to purchase... searching for so many days, Oh! Great website, talk first and then ordered...
What are you trying to sell? If you don't know how to reach the people who may want to buy what you're offering then you're probably wasting your time.
I know my target audience and I have found my niche. I am fairly new to this sort of thing, hence the creation of this thread.
Ignore the guy that said you are wasting your time if sales aren't pouring in... You can have the best product in the world showcased on the best web site optimized for sales and still receive 0 sales if no one is landing on your site. It sounds to me that you haven't deployed a marketing strategy or perhaps even created one... I think you need to start exploring gaining exposure through SEO, Search engine marketing, Social media, Video content (YouTube), and depending on the product even online "billboard" advertising (banners etc.). Depending on your business maybe even have offline advertising as well. I have no idea what you are selling but one thing is for sure...there is no marketing strategy. 0 visitors = 0 sales.
It's simple in theory but for most people it's too hard (or expensive) to effectively implement your suggestions. Unless he's selling something that's viral in nature his best bet would probably be SEO, but even that isn't as simple as it used to be. Creating high-quality content can be time-consuming and if he's selling physical products that are in a very competitive niche it could be extremely hard for him to rank at the top of Google for quality keywords and phrases.
That's not true. What is "for most people"?? Most people like you??? Blog = Free. YouTube = Free. SEO = Free. Social Media = Free. The cost of the above is time. Not money. As for SEM that costs money but the niche, target, and end goal determines the cost. Why are we assuming that most people are like you and can't afford these options? That isn't true either. You don't need a viral product or viral advertising to produce sales. You don't need to rank on page 1 or within the first 5 results to produce sales and a profitable business. You have a very distorted business mind set. I'm going to say you aren't successfully running a business if that is your mentality. To the original poster... don't listen to this guy. He's unsuccessful.
I am currently working on my keywords, and my ads. I am fortunate enough to family in the marketing business to help out. I guess we will see what the next 2 weeks have in store for me.
Instead of insulting people who are trying to give others a realistic idea of what is possible, why don't you share a few of your own personal case studies and explain why some of them worked and others didn't. P.S. There is no such thing as "free" marketing. Unless you don't put a value on your time, nothing is free.
What types of products are you trying to sell on your e-commerce website? And if you don't mind sharing, what is your actual website address?
Again..more BS... Social media is free.. Anyone can start a Company page on facebook for free. Anyone can start an instagram for free. Anyone can signup for YouTube for free. Anyone can have a pinterest for free. Anyone can start a tumblr for free. ... social media is free. SEO is free... Anyone can start a wordpress blog for free. Anyone can use a keyword analyzer for free. Anyone can literally change the keywords on their website for free. Anyone can read about SEO best practices for free ... SEO is free By JUST doing the above you can and will drive traffic to your site. How do you figure this is not free and won't work? This is why you have no credibility. These are free. FREE. FREE. FREE. (Duh. FREE. Did you read that? It's FREE!) And these are all REALISTIC and very common ways to drive traffic to your site. Read that again since you are having a difficult time grasping. You may be incredibly Unsuccessful with your attempts but that does NOT mean that others will. Judging by your posts you are extremely negative and believe that it's impossible to achieve success because you have not. That is the stupidest mentality to have.
See. Stupid. You posted "Don't feed the troll" in response to my response to you. Absolutely stupid. Edit: And by the way... it isn't trolling when you are giving advice. You serve no purpose in this thread right now.
