For years I did just that as I was under contract. They were the most miserable years of my life. These days I want to write when I am in the mood not because of time lines and deadlines that have to be met. I know what the difference is between my forced writing and my writing from the heart. The former is cold, clinical and sanitized. The latter is heartfelt, emotional and sometimes even artsy. I well remember having to write advertising jingles and slogans when not in the mood to write. How I hated it and hated myself for putting myself into that position in the first place!
Writing is an Art! We can't force ourself to do bla bla things in any situation. We have heart and brain! Brain thinks and heart offer emotions. Not in Mood means! Heart Directing our brain not to do the writing work or any general work. Why heart is Doing this? It is because of Following reasons - 1. Stress/Tension from any other source 2. Feel tired Need relaxation 3. Some other things going in mind, heart guiding mind this or that. Make Mood! How? 1. Not in Mood; At that time Motivation require - read some motivational personalities books, articles, blogs... 2. Watch videos to refresh yourself and get rid from Imbalance between heart and brain. 3. Do Meditation. 4. Do it First; A cup of Sweet Delicious Strong Coffee or tea It is all about to Manage the Whole "Temple". Our body is Temple.
Good writing is, but poor writing is just a bunch of words that someone complied because they had to, not because they wanted to.
I love to write. I co-relate things. Same here! I think you are still out of Mood... I discover some beautiful paragraphs here I read them, but not deliver Just bunch of words.... Take a Cup of Strong Coffee...
I think that you are a good member and in my opinion deserve to be established. I am therefore pleased to give you your 3rd like.
I only share what I learned. It doesn't mean I know everything; I am still learning and I always keen to learn. What I get is relaxation to my soul. I am in this world for a Good cause.
to be a freelancer writer is to write when you want and where you want, that is, when you are in the mood, not otherwise
This statement is good for "writer" and it is like that "to be a writer is to write when you want and where you want, that is, when you are in the mood, not otherwise" But for a "freelancer writer"; there is a time deadline, so as a Freelancer writer the professional always do some activities that he or she in a Good mood to write.
That philosophy won't help you to pay the bills and is not realistic. Just remember your comment when you are in the mood to eat, but don't have any food on your table.
Won't do anything positive for your health in the long run....too many sleepless nights. You ought to find another alternative. Plus you'll end up losing a lot of weight as that stuff impairs your appetite.
You have developed a severe case of writers block, the boss is breathing down your neck, you have a looming deadline to produce finished content, you are dealing with cranky clientele, and here you are going to wait until you are in a good mood. Not sure what parallel universe you are working in, but good luck with that one!
The key answer to your post is that I don't have a boss. I am my own boss, I worked hard to achieve it and that's why I do whatever I want, whatever I want because I can afford it.
That is your story but this thread is not just about you. Other writers on here are under contract or have a boss. Others have to answer to demanding clients. So advice about writing only when you are in a good mood is useless.
