For successful SMS marketing campaigns, 1. Don’t send same messages within a week.(Don’t Spam) 2. Use short code messages, don’t write in detail. 3. Instantly reply the customers queries 4. Send text messages on right time within 9:00 AM – 6:00PM
replying instantly (live) is not realistic, and only the fantasy of someone wanting something now, and now is not always possible. I would use only use SMS very sparingly; If you contanted me once a week, even if it was something new, then I would opt out of your shit very quickly. You can only take on so much crap, and I even find myself opting out of elists once a week that I signed up for months earlier.... people can lose interest so quickly these days...
Thing is, you won't be able to apply all of these tips without having a reliable text message marketing software. Invest on this and everything will run smoothly for your SMS campaign.
Include your client or user name in the SMS. Most of the marketing SMS messages are ignored by the users. I recommend to sms only when there is a birthday of your users. Give me special offer. You can even make a call to wish him many happy returns of the day.
The most useful tips i think: 1) While SMS is not open, a limited number of characters is displayed. So try to interest the customer in the first line..and he open your message. 2) Try to evoke emotions - and he will use the service)
Content should be interesting Never be late in replying customer queries Be active Post at least thrice in a week
Some bad advice here... First and foremost you should NEVER send a text message to someone unless they have selected you to. Second, you should follow opt-in and opt-out rules. Your audience should have to opt-in to receive texts and have clear opt-out instruction when they choose not to receive from you. Third, texting once a month is OVERKILL. This might as well be a daily thing. They WILL opt-out unless the text is of significant value. Text Marketing can be powerful since it goes directly to the consumer. However, you need to have a STRONG call-to-action and an even STRONGER targeted audience to receive opt-in's and see success. If you are looking to COLD market (ie. The recipient has no idea who you are and has not asked for the text message) you will not see a return with text messaging. This would technically be considered a black hat practice and most likely will get you in some sort of trouble.
I would say you need to send texts that people will really like. Usually, when I receive a text with advertising, it just makes me angry. But, let's say if I receive a text that targets me and brings me some value, I will be Ok
