I heard a rumor, but I don't know how trustworthy the source was. I heard Yahoo was signing a deal with some other company. According to this source, the deal excludes Yahoo's 15% stake in Alibaba Group and 35.5% stake in Yahoo! Japan; BUT following the completion of the acquisition, these assets will be retained under the name Altaba, with a new executive team.
    IS THIS TRUE?

I think its only a humor and it will be a long discussion first before they arrive on the situation in which they are ready to change the company's brand name.

I don't think staying with the same butchered brand name would take them anywhere either. If they are to make up even an ounce of lost ground, starting with a fresh name will be one of very few options available to them.

Yahoo wouldn't change their name, it's a well known brand. You only change the brand name if it's tarnished.

I agree. A company needs to do a lot more than change its name to enact real change.
