Damn I really need to improve my CTR. My problem is I don't really want to change my layout much, and I'm using a wordpress setup.

Regarding placing images next to ads, see this very rare response from AdsenseAdvisor at http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=1931876

Finally, an official word on this.

You can place image along with the adsense but please remember to put a fine line between them.

That can just as well be because there's an arrow on the side of the image, which they didn't allow all along.

And you know that how? The site still has the ads there even with the images.

Well this is what ASA said:
sysop, I think your info is a little outdated. They used to okay images next to ads, but not anymore.

Now, we hear everybody getting a big NO when emailing AdSense Support regarding such techniques (regardless of whether there's a line or not).

If you got a positive response recently, please let us know.

As long as you are just getting a warning instead of an outright ban it's not that bad I guess.

I guess people are always looking to move the boundary just a bit further when it comes to their CTR. Even those with CTR of around 15-25%, it is never enough for them. I guess thats how it should be. A business would always be looking to increase ther profits might not be the best analogy to use), and its no different here.

Take note that some people emailed google months ago and got an ok. So they still think it's ok.

I can tell you that google used to be ok with this technique, but not anymore.

So use it at your own risk. And if in doubt, you can always email AdSense Support and tell us about their response.

He probably just means that his earnings dropped quite a bit after removing the images.
