Hi, Take a look at - https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/12435/windows-10-upgrade-faq Best Regards J
Although it ended July 29, 2016 I've read online that the free upgrade is still being offered despite the promotion ending hence this thread. It wouldn't surprise me if it was, because Microsoft would want as many users as possible using Windows 10. Can anyone confirm for sure if it still is?
As far as I know it's only free if you use "Assistive Technoligies" https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Accessibility/assistive-technology-partners https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/windows10upgrade
Thanks for that. This is what I read but I wasn't referred to this page. So are "Assistive Technoligies" a feature which can be enabled in Windows 7/8 or does it relate to hardware?
It's to do with the "Accessibility Options", if you're hard of hearing or have sight issues etc.. https://www.howtogeek.com/223319/how-to-manage-accessibility-features-in-windows-10/
I have Win8 and tried to upgrade Win10 a few months back; I thought my computer was having a heart attack, lucky for me, I had a file backup, and took what felt like hours getting the computer to work again, and it wasnt WIN10 either....
Lucky you had a backup. You should have met the system requirements Windows 10 doesn't really need a very good computer.
I was certainly making plans on a new one as I did not think it was going to make it... but it pulled through, however, somethings stopped working, hangs up more, screen goes randomly blank at times while I am working, but hell, old girl still ticking... too be honest, I should not be concerned that my computer is going to kick the buket any day now, so I think I will ask santa for a new computer this xmas... (unless the computer dies sooner then expected....) just remember, portable USB hard-drive can be a life saver....
that is the thing... If if it still breathes, I will not buy a new one... I will wear the threads out of my shoes before i buy a new pair....
I understand I still have a Vista machine. Sometimes it's good to have old computers because you don't have compatibility issues playing old games.
I like your attitude. Why buy a new one if the one you have still breathes? It's not only saving you money but also the environment
True, but I hate transferring everything from one computer to another. My old computer always ends up having a ton of stuff that I somehow always need.
