Hi Xenyo, Thanks for the very helpful comments and suggestions. I actually have plenty of time at this point in my life, and I intend to dedicate a good amount of effort into developing links.com. Right now I am experimenting while learning (sort of OTJ training), and observing what works and what doesn't. Mostly, I am interested in developing a site that will have real value. One of the things that I have noticed in my life, is that I spend an inordinate amount of time trying to find sites that are informative and trustworthy. It's tough. I hope that my collecting all of my experiences, and those of my readers, it may be possible to make the process of searching the web more reasonable. I think we all can make good use of the time. Hopefully, there is some merit to my idea. Thanks again, Rich
Hi mikkom, As I develop some understanding, I will probably seek employees/contractors to assist me. At point, since I am not sure what the site will ultimately look like, it would be premature for me to start going into the red. But I do very much agree with you, that the domain name can probably be developed into something very nice and useful, and rest assured I will make this domain into something useful for any visitor who chooses to spend time on it. Yes, I was the original holder of the name. Regards, Rich
Hi JRayers, I do very much appreciate your considered comments. Yes, we are in agreement that I should probably seek to develop the site in a meaningful way. I do believe in using "real estate" appropriately and not just build anything on it. If I can build something meaningful and useful, I'll be satisfied, and I will trust that the money will follow. Thanks again and please keep in touch. I would be very interested in any further comments you may have. Rich
Thanks abixalmon! Yes, I get about 600 totally unque visitors a day - from somewhere on this earth. Now my job is to give them something worthwhile to view. I hope I am able to do this. Thanks. Rich
I'll be fascinated to see what you do with the site, and applaud the fact that you are going to make something of it rather than cash in. Because as already stated, you could cash in to the tune of six figures easily.
first of all , that is great domain . if i were you , i use a 336*280 inside the blog post . other part of the placement is great
Hi frisby, I am always open to suggestions. This is just the beginning, not the end. Inventions, like the light bulb, take time to discover. But I am open and willing to try other ideas and appreciate all of the comments I am receiving. Thanks. Rich
Hi pogung, Rather than going Big, I am thinking about going small. Featuring only the very best sites on the web. I think this would greatly help people when searching for information. The list would be rotated, as new sites come on line, it would not be limited to the biggest - but rather the best, and I have introduced a Watch category, so visitors can comment on those that we are thinking about. It's an initial idea, and I am sure it will change over time. Thanks for your comments, Rich
Hi, Do you think it would detract from the blog by making it too busy looking? I want people to get information quickly and easily. I am not sure, which is why I am asking. Thanks for the idea. Rich
Hi, At one time we did have a golf directory like site. Most of our traffic is looking for something else, based upon search keywords, so there never was any stickiness. In any case, it is difficult to keep up with sites like GolfChannel that has lots of proprietary content. Thanks for the suggestion, Rich
First you have got a great domain names and after that you ad placement look good with nice relavant colors.
Hi, Thanks for the comment. I am trying to keep the site very clean and simple so that visitors can quickly see whether the site is relevant to them. I do think I have to make the categories more obvious - it may not be on first glance. But once I get a good number of comments/critiques, I'll revisit the layout and see if there is a better way to present it. I am surprised that no one has recommend this forum yet for inclusion in the technology section. It seems to be far and away the most interactive and helpful of those that I have visited so far. Comments? Thanks for commenting. Rich
Hi mad4, I apologize that you are having problems entering the site. I believe it may be related to a proxy server that you might be using. If you are able to, please try to access www.links.com, without the proxy. If this is not possible, or you are not using a proxy, please let me know and I will look into the problem. If anyone else has some idea of what may be going on, I would appreciate any assistance in rectifying this problem. Again, my apologies. Rich
