Hello everyone, i had an app for android called BerliNEW which i converted to website using wordpress. Basically its website with information about Berlin city that i found on the internet and the social media. 80% of the content is copied from other blogs (i have asked for permission) but i just realized thats really bad for my SEO and my ranking on google is really bad. Do thoose articles affect my whole website and if i post fresh unique content would they rank better on the search engines ? Also my other question is if i decide to write my own text about same topic which i already have by editing it and not posting new page/article on my website would that improve my ranking again or the link is already blocked from google ? The website is http://berlinew.club thank in advance
Yes, You are right. After Google released Panda update, Google hates duplicate content. Also, if you are doing your website promotion, always use the fresh and unique content. So my suggestion is to remove your old content and update it.
Find duplicate content with other sites with Copyscape in duplicate content in your site with Siteliner. Change the text you find as duplicate. Google loves original content.
I feel sorry for you coz no one of above couldn't give your accurate answers that you want. so let's get started your first question is page with duplicate content effects the whole site or domain name? answer is NO. For evidence I send a screen shot. second question is could your site gain rank again? Useally if google give you manual penalty then it will rank again. and if google give you algorithm penalty then it will not rank until google update his algorithm again. Third question is are you allowed to write fresh content by editing not creating new page. In a word google loves update content.so if you remove duplicate parts with copyscape. google immediately can detect you and google also want to relief to confusion of which one is original. He will rank two pages for two separate keywords
actually, the question was answered above "panda update" I am not sure where you got your so called "proof" was it from google, or something so called "SEO" site that claims they know the meaning of SEO? panda update targets sites with low quality content, thin content, content farms, etc... What is low quality content? content that visitors do not find useful, and bounce real quickly, and for whatever reason, your visitors did not find the content useful, otherwise, they would have stayed longer on your site, or they would come back over, and over again... What is thin content? thin content is normally found on sites such as amazon/blog reviews that contain nothing more then an excerpt, or some idiot copies amazon content exactly, not only is there not a lot of amazon content, it simply does not offer any value to the visitor.... What is a content farm? this is googles interpretation. "A website that contains very large quantities of content, typically of low quality or aggregated from other sites, generated solely to ensure that it appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine." What category does a syndication site fall into? It certainly qualifies as a content farm, and it could be low quality also, and your stats will tell you what your traffic is up too. If your traffic is leaving the site faster then the ray of light, then you have a quality issue. Everything I said is also a conflict of some of the things I have seen online as I seen quite a few high authority synidcation sites, but according to google, they all should have received some type of penalty; at the very least for having a content farm... Even if you have a syndicated site, or content farm; If visitors find your site useful, and they keep coming back for more, and more, then google may overlook their rule policy, and if you think about it, if you read their terms, such sites should get a penalty.... At the end of the day, it is just not about content as google ranks your site using 100s of factors; Does your site engage visitors, are you offering value, are you solving issues, etc, any site that engage their visitors will never get a penalty, however, if your site appears to be junk, you have a high bounce rate, no one is coming back, then what do you expect? higher rankings? If you think about, this comes to down to having a good or bad website, as you can have unique content, and still have a bad site... bad or good content without high authority backlinks means nothing. you will just have a site with content, and no traffic or rankings...
